Heat rises not falls onto the ice. Also it takes a whole lot of energy to melt ice as compared to warming air.

It won't even melt it. Especially for how much ice there is. Right now on the lake I live up in Northern Minnesota we have about 14 inches of ice. Usually be the end of the January there will be about 2- 2/2 feet of ice. At that point you could drive a fully loaded semi on the ice and nothing would happen.
