Mav as you get older ( heck I'm 63) you begin to enjoy the little things, like comfort. I remember when I could throw my sleeping bag on the ground, climb in and go to sleep. Those days are WAY behind me now. I see two big ways you can go with that pickup truck. One is get a new/newer truck canopy that's tall enough to stand up in and make a simple camper that way. I had one for my Ford Ranger years ago, worked great. But what I suggest is looking for a actual truck slide in camper that already has a refrigerator, stove top and oven built in. Maybe even a small "wet" restroom with toilet, sink, and shower. They make them light enough for 1/2ton trucks. I just recently used my game from 3/4 ton to 1 ton pickup and I'm looking for a nice camper so I can pull my jet boat for salmon fishing. Yup I'm to old for roughing it. So I'm curious what you will do. That said I really think "Steve" is a fantastic RV that just needs a little love. More fuel capacity and maybe a check up from a good RV technician and see what they say. Perhaps some upgrades for Steve. Anyway young man, I look forward to seeing your vids. Next time you make it out to the Pacific Northwest ( I live in Southwest Washington state) during salmon season connect with me if you're interested in some salmon fishing. Until another time be safe and enjoy the day for they are precious and can be so kick ass fun. 👍🔥🍻🌤😁🎣

I live this way in the early 90s out of the back of a Chevy truck, where's the camper that you could stand up in but it wasn't a cabover, had a stove cooktop propane cooktop, and an icebox, absolutely comfortable, spent my days around Whiskeytown and Shasta Lake lots of fun and memories, I had aluminum boat on top went everywhere, so you see you bring a lot of memories can't wait to see your new build, God bless from the Great Northwest, Keep On Truckin

I’ve been saving up for a used uhual cube truck ! It’s perfect for turning into a camper! At the very back there’s a huge shelf that you can store big pieces of furniture like couches and stoves and even deep freezers so that would be the PERFECT spot for a double even queen size mattress! And then for the wallls you can just make a wood frame around the metal frame of the truck and then insulation and cover it with either dry wall or even ply wood! You could even put snap together hardwood down or carpet!
@timothinking98552 жыл бұрын
Mav, mount the heater in a small metal toolbox on the roof rack. You can duct the hot air down into the camper with 3inch flex duct and you can install a more permanent exhaust situation and it won't kill you.

For a pickup bed camper set up check out Lonewolf 902. Videos at 10 months ago and 7 months ago. He basically has 2 sidewall storage shelves with tabletops and a headboard. He has an insulated floor pad with a mattress on top. A lot more space to move around and not as much storage. Solar on the roof with a fridge in the backseat and a portable stove. Simple but all that you need. Personally that is my plan but I will spend more time on the shelving units to get them better organized!! Be nice to see what you come up with!!!

Hear you on the setup. I have been living in my Nissan Titan since July of 2021. I built 4 separate modules: bed (9" high with kitchen drawer), 2 shelf/storage units and a "floor unit that is 15 inches wide (sits in the "gap" between the bed (27" wide) and one of the shelf/storage units (10" wide)). I also have a bedside table/box that sits in the gap and is removable. Great for clothing, books, electronics. Everything is pressure fitted. Very easy to remove. Works well, though I crave a little more headroom. Best to you and your new build.

Just watching this episode it does look like you pack a LOT in the truck when you only go for a short trip. I do remember on your big trip to the west and Mexico , your drawers were very efficient in what you had packed and how you had it set up. So now I am hoping you are just doing a new upgrade for your truck. Since all of your "campers" are for different types of camping that you do. That what makes it so fun to watch your videos. Hope you take us along on your revamp of the truck. Good luck Mav can't wait to see the new truck camper. What if your bed was a folding mattress so when not sleeping it was a chair??? might work.

Hey Mav, love the vids but instead of struggling on that little cutting board and knife with mincing garlic and the peels flying all over your stuff while editing it out 😂😅. You should try throwing a whole peeled up head worth of garlic in a food processor with a splash of oil and some salt and it will preserve pretty well in any container or little old jar if you keep it cool ahead of time. Thats what we do in the restaurant so when someone needs minced garlic all they have to do is go in the walk-in and grab it, saves a ton of time and frustration. It takes a while for garlic to go bad that way too. Keep up the good work and stellar content I hope to have a truck or van setup similar to yours in the near future.

It’s always a good thing to change things up I decided to keep my truck because like you said used trucks are going through the roof right now I’ve redone the back of mine so many times and it’s perfect for what I need and my favorite recipe chicken enchiladas but I’m not gonna tell you the recipe just because if we ever do a cook off together that’s what I’ll be making 😂 can’t wait to see the video of the rebuild ok 👌🏼🔥🤠🔥Camping Russ out
