I am not agreeing with you that the LGBTQ and occupy wallstreet members are class conscious. This is bescause the only recognitze 1 of 2 parts of class consciousness: being aware of exploitation. The half that those movements are missing is that it is necessary to unite most of the working class to overthrow the bourgeoise and not advocate for reforms within capitalism that do not resolve the inherent contradictions within capitalism that maintian it existence such as the contradiction of socialised production vs privated means of production

thats right. they form a social group but not a class (at least not in the marxist sense). the question is : is it still possible today for a REAL class consciousness to emerge? Byung-Chul Han's critique in this regard is pretty pessimistic. for him it would be impossible under the actual conditions of contemporary capitalist society because it is based on auto-exploitation : the neoliberal subject thinks he is free but he is enslaving himself (thanks to ideology and false consciousness).

@5:50 when we don’t understand where we fit into society, we allow an unjust society to exist- this describes black Americans descended from Slavery and Jim Crow to a tee.

Errors: Marx didn’t say there were only two classes; he did say that the two contenders for hegemony were the boug’ and the prole’. During Marx’s time most people did not work in factories, many proles did, sort of what defines them. But at that time most people were not working in factories, nor even urban. I’m not an expert on the whole false consciousness thing, but I’ve always got the inclination that Marx actually wrote very little on that matter and rather it was post Marx writers, particularly academics (Frankfurters et al) who hyped up what ever small fragments of sentences Marx did write on the subject. It’s v akin to dialectical materialism, there are barely any writings from Marx on this notion, and yet the post Marx writers who have fetishized The Hegel /Marx / dialectic have touched the gates of heavens on their mountains made out the mole hills on this topic.

Sorry, what's your point in all this rambling you typed out? What did you want people to get out of your paragraph long contribution to the world? Because i've completely missed your point.

2 classes? Smoke and wishes. I can't believe people buy into the contridiction of historical facts... Every system is flawed and will always be flawed. Because absolute power is absolutely corruptatble. That is the philosophical deb ate everyone should be focused on. Let's bring on machines to moniter us? Or... Take care of yourself.

I wonder what Marx would have thought of the GULAG !!!! Talk about alienation and an unjust society
