I was reminded that it was Creek that attacked Fort Mims in 1813.

That is a great set. It would be awesome if they were block heads.

If they were blockheads they would be present day Texans.

It was the Creek tribe that massacred Fort Mims. Great video. Loved Fess Parker!

I actually worked at Sears for a couple of years. I could see the signs that they were in trouble. I miss the Sears of my youth. Going to the toy department was like a bit of heaven!

I think I got my son a reissue of this set in the late 1990s? It might have been a cheaper knockoff or something as it only had a mockup of the front of the Alamo and 2 wooden 'Bunkers' that attached to it, but also boxes and barrels. No Cavalry, about 40 Mexicans, 25 Defenders, including Travis, Crockett, and Bowie. Lots of little Canons. He added Civil War Canons to it for more accuracy. But after awhile he started cheating. He threw in Soldier sized non moving Super Heroes and a few hundred Modern Soldiers. After that it became a Massacre in favor of the Texans with each Mexican soldier dying 20 times!
@iggystoyparadesoldierrevie10926 ай бұрын
The Texans could have used some of those M16 rifles!
@BladeStar-uq6xe6 ай бұрын
Well, the Texans also had Thor, Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, Storm, Cyclops, Wolverine, and Black Widow. Not to mention soldiers with the M-60 machine gun, Bazooka, Flamethrower, and Morter along with M-16s. I almost felt sorry for them when he started cheating. He didn't cheat with his Civil War battles though. Ironically he had an unusual play style. My son most often combined the old movies Cavalry Charge with Ronald Reagan, and Major Dundee with Charlton Heston. So he had Union, Confederates, and Cowboys vs. Indians backed by the Mexican Army. Both sides had Canons, then my son found Gatling Gun pencil sharpners and that became one sided with Indians and Mexicans dying 10 times each.

Pretty sure you're right. I was sure it was a knockoff when I got it. He liked all kinds of Toy Soldiers. He had modern, Alamo, Civil War, and Knights. He was trying for a '55 Days at Peking', but, after getting about 60 Boxers he started losing interest and stopped playing with all of them for the most part.

Do you still have it or did it end up in a garage sale? Not much makes it into our adult lives. My oldest Brother Robert had an American Flyer train set that he loved and my dad gave it away when my brother was in the army!
