I think Shawn Ray had one of the greatest physiques of all time. He was full and conditioned enough to stand next to the mass monsters but with very classic lines. Unfortunately, his lack of height was a disadvantage, too. I'd like to see bodybuilding go that way. As far as who I'd like to look like, probably Steve Reeves; his looks and structure were so amazing that you can't replicate with PED's.

The perfect balance between aesthetics and size/bodybuilding were Thierry Pastel, Shawn Ray, Charles Clairmonte, Flex Wheeler and Kevin Levrone (especially early on in their careers). Your video was great, introducing me to some old time aesthetic bodybuilders I’d never heard of before. And my Top 5 bodybuilders of all time are all in your video except one. They are as follows: 5. Arnold 4. Serge Nubret 3. Paul Dillett 2. Shawn Ray 1. Flex Wheeler I should say my #1 & #2 favorite bodybuilders of all time are really interchangeable. Shawn Ray was a model of consistency at bringing an incredibly aesthetic, balanced, and quite muscular physique to the Olympia each year. And while Flex Wheeler was no where near as consistent as Shawn Ray, Flex had three years in his career where he reached the pinnacle of what a human male would most want to look like. Mythical proportions. So in this regard, though he had only three years like this, the “career highs” that Flex had during those three years were, IMO, unmatched by any pro bodybuilder in the history of the sport. And those three years where Flex ruled the world were ‘93, ‘97, & ‘98.

Aesthetics is subjective of course. One of My top aesthetic preferences is a wide clavicles, Large rib-cage, the appearance of height, longer limbs, overall balanced structure and a not so big head. Then down from there a smaller waist and a tight gut. Thats why Ronnie 98 & 99 are one of My ultimate examples of Aesthetics based on My personal criteria.
