This is a beautiful intro by the late Nanci Griffith (08-13-2021) and her dearest fellow artist Ms Shawn Colvin! Amazing band! No clue how her stage presence comes off looking so free-spirited...must be that she loves performing her songs to avid listeners. Thank you What's for afters? for putting this out on KZbin for the archives. Time will take both Nanci Griffith and John Jennings far too early, but there is this consummate performance out there to view. Much appreciated.

Watch her bobbing and dancing around in between each line and verse--she's so far into the song. That's how it is for great musicians. They play for that experience. It's not the fame, the money, whatever. They play for that groove--there's nothing else like it. They'd do it for nothing and just for that. She's one of the great ones.

The first time I saw Tommy was at Winfield several years ago, and it was jaw dropping experience for me.

This is the one! Is this Telluride in 91? This is the first MCC song I heard. And I said who is this genius? I didn't know the name of the song. I bought four albums before I found the one with quitting time. And that's how I got hooked on MCC. And how I got my kids hooked on her also.

The most eloquent songwriter ever. Well, Jackson Browne does well too. If you, Mary want to take a trip down 81, I'll drive, we can stop at my cabin near Waynesboro and I'd love to just talk. Of all the songwriters, I'd love to just talk to Mary for a while.
