From labour day to Easter weekend we have another change of seasons with spring setting in and a little hope now that 3 possible serums are here to vaccinate as many who will understand that this is key to setting the world a little more back on track. Thank you for this acoustic version Mary Chapin. Wishing you the very best as we head into Easter...you Angus and family and friends. 🌱🇨🇦

Hi Sharon, You’re correct in the vaccines have become a reality and here it is another Easter has past. My second trip with Songs From Home and I always come across something or someone I missed the first time. Here it is Spring and just as you did last year we still hold Hope in our hearts for better days ahead. Things are progressing but we mustn’t trip as we near the finish line nor get distracted and let what got us here slip by. We need to continue to mask and distance not just for us but to continue to protect those around us. Keep your Faith, peace to you.

I sat close to my son’s head, my head almost touching his and played this one song. When the song ended I, with the assistance of my sister, wrapped my first born in his burial shroud. The song felt like a lullaby. The shroud, the last blanket I ever wrapped around him. Eleven years ago….

What a refreshing Labour Day Weekend here in Canada and the USA I am sure as well Mary Chapin Carpenter. It sure has a different hope-filled feel to it compared to this time 730 days ago. They are in the rear-view mirror that is true, and we have turned some heavy pages with you quietly and aloud. We have also been able to hand in for the next chapters of the journey and sail with you this summer on your MCC Summer Tour of 2022! With thanks and much gratitude. The perfect morning drinking good coffee and sharing this “stay at home” Labor Day weekend with the “ MCC collective.” Here in Northern California we have been experiencing way too many wildfires which seem now to be a yearly event. But even through that I can still see the shadows dropping lower every evening signaling the beginnings of fall which means in my beautiful space a clearing of the wayward smoke and the geese flocks flying overhead and all the apple tree farms now open for you to enjoy a slice of warm apple pie! So on this morning, wherever you are, let’s just sit and listen to you sing, Mary, and let it resonate with us the rest of the day. Love that acoustic guitar sound in my kitchen!

Your picture: There’s a star on the far horizon risin’ high in an azure sky... I’ve always thought that’s the most beautiful verse of any song I’ve ever heard. Touches of fall settling in here too (Jersey shore). Sea grass tips browning, island grass turning shades of yellow, and the red wing blackbirds have started to mass. The breeze has picked up, and evening sweatshirts have surfaced. The dogs will be allowed on the beach soon....Angus you’re welcome to join us! MCC, you too. And the fire pit is ready for Twilight fires (and maybe a Dirt and the Stars cocktail). Love your music. Love you. Stay mighty!
@lindapeterson89114 жыл бұрын
Exactly! EXACTLY!!! And, more appropriately: there’s a star on the far horizon, rising BRIGHT in an azure sky... I swear it is that picture. The beginning of that verse is just as awesome: You’ve a soul for a compass and a heart for a pair of wings...There’s a star on the far horizon risin’ bright in an azure sky...For the rest of the time you’ve been given, why walk when you can fly... Incredibly beautiful. Thank you, Chapin Carpenter! You often make my day!

You are so sweet and thoughtful for continuing to offer these Songs From Home faithfully through this impossibly chaotic time that is holding each of us over the chasm of hopelessness. Hi, Sometimes on my second go around I just like to take a longer time looking at Ms. Mary’s photos for each song. I try to put my mind into what she was thinking when she took that photo? Introspection across the miles from Illinois to Virginia, to let my mind just wander on its own with only the photo to guide it. I wish I could make them larger on my iPad but tech challenged keeps me humble. Gather and share your Peace and Faith with those dear to you. SNOW coming! It’s April in the Midwest.

Thank you as always for the blessing of beautiful music on a Sunday morning. Listening to your music, and your reminders each week of how strong we are and can be, has led me to do something I haven't done before and try collaborating on a song with someone. Taking the risk of exposing my creative self is worth it - why be late for my own life? I've even let them see the unformed ideas and random phrases that begin the lyric writing process for me, and I feel like a flower that is just now being watered and encouraged to grow. I am being richly rewarded for my risk. Thank you.

Autumn is my very favorite season. In south Texas it is not as “announced” as I saw in my time in the midwest nor as you all experience in the East. My mother loved fall. She has been gone two years now. She always spoke to fall as the time that the scent in the morning air and the sounds of the trains in the distance were “different “ And, the slant of the shadows promised change was coming soon. It will. Thank you for the gift of your music.

I continually amazed at the artists I keep coming across that are new to me, yet they’ve been around for years, I.e. Playing For Change. I saw Ann , oh, thirty years ago and like you I’ve always liked her music and her voice. Listening to you both lets me put the day behind me and just listen and relax. Looking forward to this mornings, later, Song From Home. Stay safe and healthy, bless you and thanks once again.
