I absolutely love Ib. The entire game within itself is a worthy adventure to experience. I personally feel a strong connection with Mary's story because of how heartbreaking it is. In the end all she wanted was a family and to be loved. As a result of her mistakes; she was misunderstood and painfully paid the consequence.

This is an interesting take on Mary's emotions. The other songs I've heard for her focus more on her dwelling sadness, which works. But this one seems to also have a focus on her frustrations (that feeling when one's sadness becomes too damn overbearing and they know it, but there's no way out, as badly as they want there to be a way out). Interesting too because it's heavier than what I've heard before, which was unexpected, but it works for Mary and voicing the heavy feelings. :3

When I first got into Ib, I hated Mary because of everything she did. But once I delved into the story of the game, I realized that all she wanted was a family, or a friend to be there for her. Despite what she did in the routes, I feel bad for her. Everything she did just reflected on her being alone and wanting to be loved. Although Garry is definitely my favorite character, Mary's story is honestly my favorite.

Um...what do you mean by this? I mean...I do actually have evidence to support my theory. At first, Mary curses "those faulty tears that never came, would never be because that man who made her never thought to draw a damn one." However, when she stands at the portrait, she notices that "something drips down from her eye, that makes it hard for her to see. "Ah, so these are tears" she says and realizes that these tears that she shed come from deep within her heart, memento moris dyed in red." Plus, there's the fact that Together Forever is the only ending that has her stand at a painting. She never mentions a portrait? The line says she's "opening her eyes and gazing at a painting before her." So...what exactly do you mean by your comment?

This made me cry a little because I used to have a friend, and we had a friendship like Mary and Ib's. But she started hating me for some reason and I never knew why. So I waited, and waited, and waited... She never came back. I felt trapped in a painting. Soon after realizing the relationship similarities after playing Ib I started asking my friends to call me Mary, because I knew she was like me. Aside from that you did a wonderful job! My heart ;-; I love this song. It shows that even if Mary's on the yandere side..she still has feelings deep down. Hard too express ones, but feelings. And it doesnn't depict Ib as some bitch who just came in and burned her, either. It shows how much her friendship affected her, and made her feel loved. (Although I do wish someone would make a song for Ib herself, though..she needs more love! I have mixed feelings about Mary. On the one hand she is evil, and tried to kill Garry and keep Ib, a child, trapped in the art gallery. On the other hand, she is also a child, and may not fully understand the consequences of her actions. Like most children, Mary is selfish, and short-sighted. Not only that, but she is also an immortal painting, not human. She probably doesn't fully grasp the concept of death or what it truly means to end a life. How could she? Being both a child and not human, not mortal? For the most part, I believe Mary's malice is born of ignorance and a childish sense of self-centeredness. In some ways she reminds me of a psychopath, someone who is incapable of empathizing with others (often due to trauma and a physiological problem with the brain that lessens and/or prevents empathy.) Many children possess some psychopathic traits, but we do not consider them psychopaths because they are kids and their brains are still developing. A child who steals another child's toy is scolded but not sent to jail. An adult, however, who steals another adult's possession is sent to jail (or fined) because their brains ARE fully developed and it is expected that they know the difference between right and wrong already and are capable of controlling themselves. Another factor contributing to Mary's actions is isolation and being trapped in a dark, twisted world full of malevolent pieces of art for who knows how many years. That would be enough to drive any adult insane, let alone a child. She may have been born there, but the isolation and being trapped there probably also drove Mary insane. And when Ib and Garry came along, the only company she's had in probably centuries, naturally she latched onto Ib, a girl her own age (at least physically, although Mary is obviously much older than Ib, being an immortal painting and all.) I'm not sure why she lashed out at Garry, maybe because he was a man and an adult so she was suspicious of him? Maybe he reminded her of Guertina, her "father", who she felt abandoned her. Or maybe it was because she knew he wanted to escape and was going to take Ib with him, thus leaving her all alone again. Either way, it doesn't exactly excuse her actions, but I can at least sympathize with Mary. This song is so beautiful and well-done, and it really makes me feel sorry for Mary. Lollia did a great job expressing all the emotions that Mary must've been going through. Thank you for sharing this!

Mary was painted by Guertena, who after a while, died. She never found out, because he was in the real world when she died. She wants to leave and find her Father, but she can't because she needs to replace a human to do so. So the game happens, she tries to replace Garry and only succeeds in one ending.
