Two progressive Bangladeshi-American candidates were removed from the June 23 ballot in Queens after the New York Board of Elections said they couldn't use their chosen diminutive names. After winning a court battle, Mary Jobaida and Moumita Ahmed are back on the ballot. Jobaida is running for NYS Assembly in District 37 while Ahmed is running for District Leader in Assembly District 24.
