Man Alive! This movie was a bit of a monster to edit! I tried to be respectful of dialogue, the soundtrack, and cinematography. Hope you enjoy!

@@seekforjannah2432 Excellent question. I was wondering that myself. I have some theories, but I'm not sure. Maybe the dogs tried to attack him and he flung them off. (Although it seemed like they were trying to flee more than attack.) Maybe he wanted to get rid of the dogs as guards? Or... maybe they just wanted the intro to be scary and mysterious, so they put in that scene. I wish I knew.🤔

This is the closest adaptation to the book that has ever been made. And in my opinion. This must have been a passion project for ALL involved. De Niro as the creature. Was out of left field and perrrfecttt

Kenneth Branagh is great... The book still holds up. It's beautifully sad. Very very well written....

I think this version of Frankenstein was more villainous than other versions and even more mad than the others.

11:42 You were right when saying "watching people get HANGED". You added a correctional blurb of * *hung* in the video, but that's actually not the proper way to say hang in the past tense when referring to that word in that context. Hanged is correct 👍

Ive been obsessed with Frankenstein (the novel) since i was a kid and this movie was amazing to me when it came out. But i remember it getting awful reviews and i just never understood why. I think it was done very well. BTW, your point about her being dared to write a horror story isn't exactly accurate. It wasn't anything about her being a woman and how they couldn't write anything scary. It was just a friendly competition between her, Mr Shelley, and Byron. Everyone who read it encouraged her to get it published and it actually wasn't even published under her own name for some time. Now after it had gotten popular it was hard for people to believe that she wrote it and not actually her husband, who already was a somewhat acclaimed writer/poet. But she eventually got her due praise and the book is now credited as being the first science fiction novel ever written.

Thank you for clearing that up! I'm happy that in the end at least she was widely acclaimed for her novel.

To the "first science fiction novel" point, I have to object on behalf of the ancient author Lucian, whose satire of travelogues, "A True Story," tells of how his ship and crew were blown off course by a storm and carried on the wind to the Kingdom of the Moon, which at the time was embroiled in a war against the Kingdom of the Sun over the colonization of Venus. Later, his crew visits a land inhabited by dead, great thinkers and philosophers. Plato, however, was not there, as he was said to be living in an imaginary society of his own creation lmao
