Take a trip along the whole of the Great Central Main Line in the 1960s, sometime between 1963 and 1966. This thirty minute film starts in London and works its way north capturing steam and diesel traction, local and express services, stations large and small.
The smaller village stations have already closed and some signals have been torn down. However enough of the trunk route to London survives to experience its unique flavour. The camera lingers for sometime at Leicester Central and Nottingham Victoria.
A superb film now presented with a recreated sound track, filmed by Brian Healey, a supporter of the preserved Great Central.
