1:28 is so subtle but so GOOD -- Maryse is the one being left before she's the one that leaves, even if in the beginning all we're shown is her absence. She's so, so vulnerable when she isn't the one in control -- and that vulnerability is what makes her *better* in the end. Robert leaves. The Clave exiles her. Her children are the ones that stay, and she becomes the person they always needed her to be without the demand of perfection from either side. I just love Maryse's development so much, and your video absolutely captures the complexities of her -- amazing work.

This actually brought tears to my eyes. I didn't expect that...her character arc is one of the best on the show. I can see so much of her in her children-the fierce caring & integrity, trying so hard, willing to make amends for mistakes. She was harsh but she cared; once she learned a better way to show it, she did. Not everyone has the courage or honesty to make those kinds of changes in themselves.
