Every time I see these I just think about back ~10ish years ago when Fender tried to make these guitars as a more budget friendly piece and they did not resonate with people. I always thought that they were interesting concepts, so it makes me happy seeing that Fender didn't give up on the design and instead just tried to make it the best guitar that it could be.

Aye, tho you can pick the Acoustasonic American Jazzmaster up for £1,400 - £1,500 (UK) at present.
@dingdong60693 жыл бұрын
The algorithm recently suggested at random Page & Plant doing their excellent Unledded No Quarter thing back in the mid-90's and it suddenly dawned on me: These Acoustasonics are the Ovations (which Page plays often in these sessions) of the 2020's. An acoustic that's not quite an acoustic designed for the electric player and some love em and some hate em. Just like Ovations which of course are still available too. From Fender once upon a time too.
@charlesbolton84713 жыл бұрын
That’s what I’ve been saying since the American Acoustasonic Tele came out a couple of years ago. However, you did skip a couple of significant steps in the evolution between Ovations and these: the Gibson (and Epiphone) Chet Atkins SST and the Taylor T5.
@d.wilson14023 жыл бұрын
I literally just bought one before seeing this video. It’s almost perfect for what I want it for. The quality is superb and I can’t see any difference in them physically from the Americans. I know this sounds odd, but the big body of dreadnoughts hurt my shoulder and aren’t comfortable for me. I am also an electric player and move the speed and ease of play. This is a winner! Great review!

Interesting to note the range of comments. Everyone has an opinion. Some say it’s too expensive others say it’s reasonably priced. Most like the sound some don’t. I thought it sounded good and it was played well. I liked the location too.
@munkyenima3 жыл бұрын
I think compared to 2 grand it is very reasonably priced. I liked the concept from the get go but I'm not willing to pay 2g's. I could justify paying a thousand, and the Mexican Fenders have been very high quality lately. There are Mexican Fender electric (solid body) models right now that cost more than a thousand. People are getting hung up on the fact that ALL GUITARS have had their prices skyrocket since the pandemic began. A Mexican Charvel (made by Fender) which I was looking at, was out of stock at $600 and by the time they came back in stock they where almost a thousand. Prices are only going to go up on the new guitar market so people are going to have to wrap their minds around it. Some say there will be a used market price dump soon due to people buying all the stock (as beginners) during covid and not sticking with it. If it's too much $ for you, wait a year or two and save a grip of cash buying used. Taylor and Martin have already proven that some great acoustics can be made in Mexico, so it only follows that the largest guitar producer (already in Mexico) would as well. Just my 2 cents.
@charlesbolton84713 жыл бұрын
@@munkyenima I completely agree. It really shows that Fender is listening to their customers since people have been asking for a more “affordable” Acoustasonic since the American made one first came out almost three years ago. The thing that I don’t understand is that Taylor has been making the T5 for 16 years, and there has never been a similar push from their customer base for a more “affordable” T5 made in Mexico. I’ve liked the American Acoustasonics since they first came out, but at their price I would be more inclined to buy the T5, but I already have a similar Gibson (the Ranger) which was the short lived replacement for the Chet Atkins SST. However, the price of these Mexican Acoustasonics is low enough that I might consider one of them (or maybe a used T5).

I have the USA one and it is great! I didn't want a huge full sized acoustic with a chunky neck, I wanted a thinline with skinny neck. The voicing sound great and it had no piezo quack! Plus I love Teles. People love to dog on the "gig" bag not being a hard-shell case, but It's a sturdy stiff lined soft shell, not a floppy bag. It's a nice case I must say! I like it a lot. The noiseless Tele pickup sounds really good and it was designed by Tim Shaw who did all the great eighties pickups for Gibson and is now a Fender man. Plus I love how it sounds just acoustically. Not concert volume, but a nice output for bedroom playing and impromptu jam sessions. It's a cool guitar. If you want a dreadnought go buy one, but If you want something unique and more comfy get this.
@ItsVictoriaG2 жыл бұрын
Same for me! I didn’t want a huge full sized acoustic or a huge chunky neck (I have a chunky neck guitar already, lol). It’s lightweight and ergonomic, and there’s still that tele quack in the fifth position!

Can the acoustic side be used without an amp unplugged while chilling on the couch?
@drumsNstuff792 жыл бұрын
@@nico3641 Yes! It sounds surprisingly loud. Not too loud though but just enough volume to strum for fun anywhere. It's not as huge a sound as a full sized dreadnought and can be more on the trebly side, not as bass-y. But yeah you can just strum it, the sound hole on it they designed makes it project for such a thin guitar.
