How do I make this sugarless? Or is that too much to ask for?
@aliceis90684 жыл бұрын
@@lisahoang3880 you'll probably need the initial sugar or appropriate substitute to feed the yeast in the beginning (i'm not sure what would work besides possibly??? a liquid alternative??? like agave?? but i rly don't know esp. given that it's to help the yeast have something to eat from the start) but the sugar for the flavor in the bread can certain be replaced by a sweet alternative or likely omitted entirely!!!

They sell vegan whipped cream in stores, but if your store doesn't sell it you just need to chill canned coconut cream for a few hours ,flip it over, open it drain the liquid that has pooled at the top, so you just get the solid cream part and whip that with powdered sugar and vanilla extract.

Mary, I am a new subscriber and just getting through many of your amazing and extremely helpful videos. I am trying to perfect bread baking at a higher altitude (about 4800 ft.) so I am learning the do's and don't's the extra's and the reductions. Your recipe doesn't have most of the stuff one at high altitude needs to be overly concerned with, yay! I need to increase the heat, possibly slightly increase flour and keep an eye on the water. Easy -peasy! Definitely going to give this one a try! Thank you! 👍💖😉

For some reason lately I've really been wanting to veganise those McCain Pizza Pockets from my childhood (specifically the 3 Cheese flavour) and seeing these buns has really fuelled that desire haha. I'd love to see you do a video where you fill these buns with different things (maybe even pizza flavoured things...) ! Thanks as always. Ps maybe I missed the memo, but why are these videos unlisted/linked?
@marystestkitchen4 жыл бұрын
Great idea, Sarah. Thanks so much for the suggestion. I loved Pizza Pockets too :-) Even though my parents would NEVER buy them. As for the unlisted status, I held off on publishing videos as these were created before Memorial Day. After that weekend and the protests that ensued, I wanted to give space to more important issues so I held off on publishing here on KZbin. These videos will be officially published soon.

Ya, I think that would work although I have not tried it. Personally, I think any dough that can be baked can also be steamed. I used to only have a rice cooker for cooking and used it all the time for making steamed bread. Results of course are different but always tasty anyways!

Great recipe (I didn't realize you could make the tangzhong without the stove!), but I would like to point out that whether or not you use active dry yeast or instant yeast DOES matter. Active dry yeast is less concentrated than instant so your dough will actually taste too yeasty if you use just replace active dry with instant 1:1. Instead, the ratio is 1:1.25 or 0.8:1 instant to active dry. So for this recipe, you'd want to use 2 1/4 tsp (7g) of active dry yeast OR about 1 3/4 tsp (5.6 g) of instant yeast.
@marystestkitchen4 жыл бұрын
I've tried both regular and instant dry active yeast for this recipe. 1:1 works and isn't too yeasty.
