At first I thought "Oh, so they mixed up the MAS-36 with the Lebel. Stupid mistake, but they do look similar so I can kind of understand". The Lebel can also load 10 via +1+1, so that made sense. Then it kept going and the last remaining brain cell I had shot itself out of pure cringe.

One thing that makes me laugh about CoD: WWII is every bolt action rifle comes with an innacurate clip reload animation where you put a clip in regardless of whether it has a scope or not, but not for this gun, the one with the large 10 round magazine which can also have 15 round extended mags. Instead they went for this slow-ass "realistic" animation after getting the rest of the other rifles wrong.

​@@evanburke2766 because the game was bought by Offworld Industries recently, the old devs were Periscopes Games but the owner of the company fired everyone for unknown reasons in december 2022 and the game was abandoned, but now the game is reciving new content wich is great beacause it's a really good game

From what I've seen, Forgotten Hope 2 has the best representation of a WW2 MAS-36. The front sight protectors are correct, as is the vertical sling bar, and the stripper clip sits pretty deep into the clip guide just like the real weapon.

FH2 is definitely the best rendition of a 1940-appropriate MAS 36 so far. That being said, one thing that none of the animations do correctly is that they all ram the stripper clip out as would typically be done with some other bolt-action models (like the K98k). While modern KZbin shooters are hellbent on doing this, the gun was not designed for it. Bloke on the Range did a video ultimately guessing something to the effect that "maybe soldiers were meant to just destroy the clip by ramming it through anyway," but actually the wartime French Army manuals were quite explicit that, upon loading, the shooter was supposed to pull the clip out with their hand. Also, if you do crunch out the clip by ramming it through, the clip ejection is mostly silent which ends with it barely making a sound upon hitting the floor because the clips were made out of a very light aluminum. You're not likely to hear it much if at all, unlike the steel Garand-like pings used by the Post Scriptum animation. Kudos to FH2, Enlisted, Easy Red 2 and WWII: Online (these last two weren't featured in this video) for being the only games to model a 1940-appropriate wartime MAS 36 instead of the postwar variant. Of them, only FH2 and Easy Red 2 depict the sight picture aligned as it was supposed to be, with the front sight's outer ears visually skirting the edges of the rear peep sight.

Seems kind of weird that the French would have their soldiers remove it manually. Clips are meant to be disposable, and MAS-36 clips are made from aluminum which is rather malleable (as demonstrated by the Chap and Bloke on the Range). I'm not doubting your input, after all the French have always had a strange way of doing things. I just find it unnecessary since it is possible to remove them with the bolt. tldr: Weird but French be doing French things @@novauviolon

@@seanherrmann6301Yeah, although as Chap/Bloke also point out the slot in the receiver where the strip is inserted was not designed to have the strip slide out with easy pressure as on most other rifle designs, and indeed it can't be done on the MAS 40 or MAS 44 semi-auto rifles (when letting go of the bolt) which were developed alongside the MAS 36 and share the same clip insertion. A soldier could do it on the MAS 36, but they weren't intended to. To quote the directions for reloading the MAS 36 on page 68 of the 1942 edition of the manual ("Notice sur le fusil à répétition de 7,5 mm., modèle 1936" consultable online via the Bibliothèque Nationale/Gallica): "...place the right thumb across the top cartridge, first in the middle of the case, then as close as possible to the clip, and exert a continuous forceful pressure on the column of cartridges until they are all introduced into the magazine; *take out the stripper clip* ; seize the bolt handle with your right hand as before..." As to why they were specific about this, there is no further discussion of the subject in any of the WW2 manuals that I've found. Maybe saves the bolt a tiny amount of wear. Maybe they implicitly wanted soldiers to hold onto clips just in case they might find themselves in a situation where they only had loose ammo left. Maybe they just thought it would actually be faster to do that as part of your right hand's movement back toward the bolt than having to force the bolt to close on the clip.

I own one in the US. They are very simple and more ergonomic than you would think. Mine shoots well. Only problem for modern usage is it has no safety.

@@shaunw9092 Just gotta train yourself to keep the chamber unloaded until you're ready to fire. The French considered cycling the bolt once to be faster than fumbling around with a safety, and it also saved on manufacturing cost and parts wear.

I use to own one of these many years ago. The oddly curved bolt handle actually was kinda neat. I ended up selling it simply because it was too expensive to shoot because of the ammo type.

​@user-mg7wh8zq6v the MAS 36 fires 7.5 x 54mm French. It's a proprietary 30 caliber cartridge with a .308-.309 diameter bullet which is very similar to .308 Winchester, but with a wider base and a little longer.

Enlisted's model is appropriate to WW2 as well, though the sight picture when aiming is heavily "game-ified". 7554's model is fine for its setting since it's the Indochina War.

I’m French and i do WW2 1940 Reenactement on the Maginot Line, i use a Mas36 and it was god blessed by symplicity and awful looks that make it a beast at battle. I love it and alway use French weapons in Videogames that has it.

i was watching Gun Jesus's video and the story was the French wanted to make a semi automatic rifle but the plan never fell through (until the prototype MAS 44), hence they ended up making another bolt action rifle again an a really good one, serving alongside the older Lebel 1886 and various berthier carbines....

The MAS-36 is a legacy rifle that many forgot but it's actually one of the longest serving rifles till date that sees it's parts being used for modern guns (I'll get to it) and you infact missed one game and that's Rising Storm 2 where the gun is used by the Viet Cong faction from time to time as their sniper with the German-copied ZF 4x scope or as a normal rifle with the grenade launcher capability. The MAS-36 is considered a legacy rifle with the Mosin and Gewehr 98 that their parts are often used for modern guns till date with the Mosin being the basis for the smoother SV-98 whereas the Gewehr 98 was the basis for the M1903 Springfield which would later evolve into the Remington action and further on being used in the Remington M700 series which became the M24 and M40 respectively plus various hunting rifles on the market now. The MAS-36 action on the other hand went on to become the revered French FR-F1 and F2 sniper system that are known to be extremely accurate and smooth cycling whilst not compromising on the actual heritage of the rifle that they used.

It’s the extended magazine attachment. If you don’t have a gun in cod ww2 you can use a perk that gives you any gun randomly but it can have attachments on.

it's CoD WaW that take place in the 1st Indochina war (something that you won't find much in other game) but more janky in term of gameplay and graphics, and also don't has replay valuable (no multiplay and no collections, and the "surviving mode" is boring after a few time because you can't play with friends), the story is okay but can be more polished, the sound is okay (and the voice acting is surprisingly good, given that Vietnamese dub for anime or film often get criticized), the game isn't long so if you want to give it a try while waiting for your new favorite game, maybe 3 - 5 hours for the game is enough to finnish the campaign.

It was developed alongside a semi-auto model, which first entered limited service as the MAS 44. Most people know of the MAS 49-56 which descended from that.
