Been to Masada four times in the past two years, the real history is far more epic.

Definitivamente está nueva versión de MASADA es mas brillante que la del LP original de 1980,y más extendida,GRACIAS! .

@@robertroth3930you guys are so close-minded, it obviously lies somewhere along a crest-trough continuum. 😂 Seriously though, I enjoy the theme, but it's not his best score.

I love how Goldsmith blends Russian and Jewish styles together
@aj.s...2 жыл бұрын
The Russian and Jewish orthodox music traditions are actually very similar. So, whatever "blending" you're hearing... that's just your brain making the connection that's already there. Pretty interesting, I think.

Problem with your observation is that the story is set in Roman times, which has nothing to do with Russia. I enjoy the score very much, but authentic or even redolent of ancient Rome it ain't.

@@pp312 I know you were talking to the op, but I'll throw in my 2 cents. I'm vaguely familiar with this story and the events it's based on. The Romans play a huge part, yes, but the story is a Jewish one. Hence, the music is very Jewish (as opposed to Roman) and, therefore, very Russian-sounding.

@@aj.s... Actually I think Goldsmith simply got sidetracked by the fact that the series starts in the modern day showing us, if I recall, Jewish teenagers in training. Goldsmith pitched his themes to that opening and kept to them, which works okay but is hardly appropriate to the period. For someone who was a pupil of Miklos Rozsa (Ben-Hur, Quo Vadis, King of Kings) I'm sure he could have come up with a more "Roman" approach without losing the Jewishness.

@@pp312 Hmm... an interesting point. You could be right. I haven't actually watched the miniseries; I just know the story and know that it's very much a Jewish, like, remembrance sort of thing. Like, very proudly Jewish. And when I listen to the score, it does put appropriately ancient pictures in my head. But, yeah, idk, you might be right. It sounds like you've actually seen the film, and I can't say I have lol
