When you introduce two cowards in the same chapter, and have one of them perform two selfish & cowardly acts, while having the other one risk his life to save his companions, it’s really hard to see the logic behind the former’s actions. I know because it’s hard for me.

I'm betting that the reason Podley witheld the letter from Bobbery was because he was regretting how badly he screwed the pooch with Eve with his letter and wanted to avoid another situation like that. Which, congrats Podley, you managed to have two moral choices presented to you and you managed to screw up both of them in the exact opposite way! Some real Spike Trotman/Squeerat energy, if anyone remembers that bit of internet drama...

There's kind of a dark metaphor here about Luigi's fate as an eternal side-liner. Yes, he plays grass, and he plays grass well, and people want to see him play grass. But he's fated to play grass, to always be in the shadow of someone else. Hayzee wants to be known as "The Red Miracle". Luigi, playing second banana to a "Red M"? Hmmm...

From this point onward, Hammer Bros., Magikoopas, and Koopatrols appear in the Rogueport Sewers. It's a nice nod of continuity since Bowser summoned them during his visit to Twilight Town. Prince Mush's email and request for a match are new to the remake. You should do as Masae does and not attempt to face him now unless you are VERY confident in your Superguards. He is significantly more difficult than any of the main story bosses, so treat him as the superboss he is and only fight him when you are fully prepared.

I completely forgot about this, Why is the random barkeep the deeped and historied character in the game?! He is like the most compelling depiction of a flawed every-man I've seen represented in the series that was not cartoonish. He has a backstory of losing his deepest love to his own insecurities (or maybe pride), sees someone else go through loss and separation to the point those feelings welling up to keep him from giving a very tragic letter, and then he has a chance to reconnect with the person he loves after years being alone, yet denies it. It's almost like him accepting his mistakes and "living in the moment" is his way of moving on from them.

And so we're homeward bound to Rogueport once more, thanks to the dread pirate king Cortez. I do like how Rogueport Harbor gains a new 'seafaring' variation of its theme now that the Black Skull is anchored there. And so we must bid farewell to Flavio. He certainly made this voyage interesting, lol Despite Luigi's less-than-dignified stage debut, being cast as grass of all things, at least his latest partner isn't swearing vengeance against him or trying to safeguard innocent bystanders from his clumsiness. Hayzee seems to genuinely see potential in Luigi, which is nice. But then, as if withholding Scarlette's final message for Bobbery wasn't bad enough, Podley once more becomes polarizing when he pretends to forget the life he had with Purehearted Eve of Twilight Town. It may be that he thinks she's happier without him in her life, but the fact that you can either tell Eve that he's forgotten about her or say he does remember her (which is technically true) just makes this a very bittersweet trouble to take on. Again, it feels like the writing wants Podley to be seen as more sympathetic in his indecision, since he clearly regrets leaving Eve behind, but he just comes across as selfish and cowardly.

One shame with both versions is that the Black Skull will barely see any use, thanks to the Warp system. I get the feeling Hayzee will keep Luigi safe from the rest of his party members, since they all want harm done on him for his screw-ups. When it comes to Podley… If the goal was to make it sound like Eve’s life would be better without him, the game certainly succeeded with that! Earlier, Podley acknowledged that he was a coward. This time, he’s even more of a coward by refusing to acknowledge his cowardly act! I’m honestly glad we have at least one person to despise. It helps us appreciate the great characters.

Sing along everybody: Sailing sailing over the bounding main. Though many a stormy wind shall blow, ‘ere Rogue Port’s here again. (X2) Geez, I didn’t know about this side quest and I am very glad it doesn’t really matter about doing a specific path to win it. Not like Petuni’s quiz, yuck. Show Podley the door people, and show Luigi the stage door. People love to see him as a side character, but Hazee is not subtly taking Mario’s role for that adventure. I will agree with people who say that.

I dislike the truth option not because it bums her out but because it doesn't seem like Mario actually tells her everything. Even without Podley mumbling about her to himself as Mario walks away, which he might not have caught, you can tell by how he reacts that despite what he says, he clearly does remember her, particularly with how he tells her to live in the moment, which it doesn't even seem like he passed that bit on as she has no reaction to that. "Making something up" is genuinely closer to the truth than what he says.

Hayzee isn't telling a lie or insulting Luigi but....thats not exactly a good thing for Luigi. See, the role Luigi is playing is grass.....and grass doesn't do anything. the joke is that Hayzee is essentially praising Luigi for standing around and literally doing nothing in a role that could've literally been a background set piece, and thus completely unnecessary to give to an actor. So the "praise" is in fact "Luigi is very good at doing absolutely nothing" not his acting ability.
