■ TANZANIA, TANGANYIKA: The life of Masai women revolves around work. They build the houses, fetch water, cook food and tend to all other domestic chores. In this episode I was able to get a little insight into how they get their water, seeing as they have no well plus how they cook without having gas or even electricity and really nothing resembling what we would recognize as a kitchen what so ever.
■ SUMMARY OF PROJECT: The Boma you've now grown familiar with is living in the pre-industrial age. Without running water or even a well, and no electricity or even solar chargers, they lead a hand to mouth existence. As subsistence farmers, they survive on the crop they grow: maize.
This maize however requires a mill, which not only takes hours to reach by foot with donkeys in tow, but also cost a lot of money. If they had their own mill, not only would they save money on not using someone else's mill, but they would for the first time in the history of their existence, own an income producing asset other than the land they grow their crops on and the livestock they herd.
For this mill would mean that other nearby Masai tribes would have the option of bringing the maize they grow here as well, rather than spend hours trecking into the nearest town (something this Boma can then charge for).
The cost of acquiring the machinery is massive, but once procured, will transform the lives of everyone in this community in unimaginable ways. This is an incredible experiment I've chosen to back financially (with a substantial amount) and can't wait to see how unfolds in the years to come.
Emi is the most magnanimous and selfless person I've come across since Sunil of the Leo Srhestha Foundation in Nepal and is fully committed towards improving the fate of the people in this Masai Boma she has chosen integrate with.
If you wish to support her project and help give these incredible people you've come to know over the past seven days a massive income producing opportunity and hence better life, you can read more on the link above.
PS! Sharing the GoFund me link on your Facebook can also make a big difference 👍

I traveled throughout Europe, visited Japan and South Korea. By far my favorite destination was Africa (Morocco, Ivory Coast and Cameroun). Unlike Europe, you get to see something truly different which hasn't been totally affected by industrialization yet. You get to see the most amazing landscapes. It's breath taking but more importantly humbling. My definition of happiness, poverty and relationship between goods and happiness changed. You truly realize how lucky we are in North America and how easy our life is. Most of our problems are fake problems.

A little rough though. They really need a water well and better homes with some decent roads. If only to keep them safe from snakes and wildlife. This is subsistence living, it's simple but clearly they're semi nomadic because the land they settle gets used up in under a generation. It's only sustainable insofar as they subsist in absolute poverty and in danger of being bitten by snakes or taken by predators. It's a caste society, the warriors are there to keep them safe but they could also help with the work if they had more time to work. I know it's their culture, but cultures can be better protected with extra help. Just keep them away from internet and social media-that would destroy them in under a generation.

@@Nostrada-mus I don't feel we're lucky, I feel they are. If our system drops tomorrow, we're lost. No land, no running water, no farmlands...we'd starve. But we gave that up for democracy... I guess it all depends on what we value abd perceive as lucky.

I’ve been dealing with a lot of depression lately ( I mean who hasn’t ever since the world flipped on top of itself ) but I’m happy to say that these videos have truly opened my eyes towards life and the future. For the past couple of months I’ve found myself struggling to get out of bed and complete the most menial of tasks until you started uploading these tribal videos. Seeing how utterly grateful these people ( who have what we in the west would consider basically nothing ) are towards life and the world around them brings me great joy. If some random Masai tribes people are living life to the fullest why am I holding myself back because of simple everyday western problems? I hope everyone can learn a similar lesson that I have from watching this series and I cannot thank you enough harald for sharing all these different cultures and world views especially in a time with such volatile social media networks and political beliefs. I love how this culture use dogs as part of the family to herd and work etc... They seem to be treated well and also fed well too. So many times on Harald and Bald's videos in other countries, dogs are not looked after and left to fend for themselves. You can tell the difference in the way the dogs behave and interact in these recent tribe videos compared to dogs in past videos in other countries where dogs are very wary of people like Harald and Bald because they never get any affection or interaction from people. Dogs truly are a pruduct of their environment!

I encourage everyone to read Emi's whole story on the link that Harald left to donate money. As a female myself, it really said a lot who the heroes of this tribe really are. The woman should have been filmed much more. The men really disappoint me, and I now understand why Harald, bless his soul, filmed the way he did. Emi, you are a warrior, right along with Mama Saluu. God bless your work, and know that it was the Lord Who made this a success. Much love to everyone.
@stillliving5899
@stillliving5899 3 жыл бұрын
@thunderbear, I was raised farming for part of my childhood, and there were thing's that female's did, and some thing's that the men did, but it wasn't easy. I was 10 the first time I caught bales of alfalfa on the back of a wagon, and then had to stack them in the barn. I cleaned the stalls out for the dairy cow's, and the hogs. My brother also did this, but he also put the rubberbandz on the male pig's and castrated them, which I did not do, nor asked. The woman also did not kill a hog, cut it's head off, and dress it for roasting, or for making lard, and freezing. The woman did the canning, and rendered the fat for the lard. The men did as much heavy work as the woman. Did you read what Emi wrote? The woman did all the work, while the men ate first, and if there was any left, the woman could eat. Did you notice the small amount of meat that was gived to Mama Suul from the bbQ, while the men ate the rest of the meat. Did you notice that mama Suul was 9 month's pregnant hauling water, fire wood, cooking, and milking the cow's???? I was not raised by men who would have even thought about putting their wife and unborn child in that kind of danger. I was was disappointed about these thing's.

Although I will donate to their cause after watching this amazing series, I am torn between wanting to help, but not wanting them to change their way of life. Every person shown in the videos looks happy, proud, purposeful & healthy. By comparison, Western lifestyle, which provides for more material things (Apple motorcycles being the exception :)), free time, etc, does not result in more happiness, purpose or is healthy. Westerns often look to African lifestyle and think we need to help them instead of asking can we learn something from them and can we improve our lives by making them simpler but full of purpose.
