gonna say now: the davao top pattern is a waste of money :( unless you're really good at figuring things out yourself LMAO and even then. the hook gauge and tension is WAY off what it needs to be for the desired look, the instructions don't indicate what they should be at outright, and even sizing up your hook doesn't make the pattern tall enough without changing the stitch you're using from what's said is required. don't do it :" )

@@lexis.2006 it's two hdc crochet rectangles for the body and two for the sleeves. You'll need Dk yarn and a 5.5-6mm hook

I have tied myself in knots trying to make this. The seller is very responsive but yeah, the pattern is way off. The pattern pics don't actually match up with the model pic. Short of stretching it into oblivion, there's no way to get that look. The pattern says 5.5 hook, guage is 8hdc, 5 rows for a 3" x 3" guage. The model is 5"11 wearing a large. Count the stitches and rows on him. It's not 3". Don't do it.

I'm a pretty femme-presenting person but I am plus size and not very comfortable in my own skin. most crochet patterns, especially for summer, are made for smaller bodies or have little to no coverage. I really appreciate this video since more oversized/masc fitting clothes are way more comfortable for me and feel safer to wear. I will def be adding these to my to-make list!

Bro I'm not plus size (up top anyway,,,) but I feel that even as someone who usually presents fem. Some of these shirts be making me feel like a barbie doll in a very unpleasant way (as in, making it seem like my chest is much bigger than it is and just overall NOT looking good on anyone who doesn't have an hour glass figure)
@lelalu101
@lelalu101 24 күн бұрын
@beesaregreatittheyprns2875 I'm a mid size human based on measurements. Yet, these tiny summer tops make me feel like I can't pick a pattern. I have learned that if the designer isn't curvy or plus size it won't have appropriate coverage or shaping. The shaping that smaller pattern creators use for bra cups is abysmal for anyone who needs bigger than a 34B!! I made a size XL summer top and the exaggerated cup shaping at the bigger size requires anti gravity tiddies! No consideration for the bottom heavy breasts that many larger chested people have. 😵‍💫

I really love this list! Just because i find it easier as a fat sewist and beginner crocheter, I've gone through the graded patterns to get the measurements and thought I'd post it here. Denver top by The Crocheting - XXL chest 46-49"/ 117-124cm Davao top by The Crocheting - XXL chest 46-49"/ 117-124cm Keith sweater vest by Honse Design - front/back panel in 2-3XL is 25"/63cm size bands add approx 6"/15cm so I'd guess circumference is 56"/142cm Summer vine tee by Wavelengths* - 3XL bust 56"/142cm Grandad's waistcoat by Realm Designs - 5XL bust 60-62"/ 152-158cm Fisken coat by Wavelengths* - 3XL bust 65"/ 165cm Pacific coat by Wavelengths* - 3XL bust 56.75"/ 144cm Calad shirt** by Jess' Root Knots - 5XL chest 60-62"/ 152-158cm Yolanda shirt by Cosmaudi - if the same block sizing as other patterns 5XL chest 60-62"/ 152-158cm Notes: * Wavelengths measurements seem to be finished garment rather than size block based since each is different, especially the fisken coat ** the Calad shirt seems to have inconsistent ease in the plus sizes compared to the straight sizes so tread lightly. E.g. the XS finished flat width is 52cm giving a 104cm circumference. XS chest is 71-76cm meaning about 30cm of ease. The 5XL finished width is 78cm giving a 156cm circumference. 5XL chest is 152-158cm which means no ease at all. I haven't done much garment crochet from patterns so I might be interpreting wrong but grading ease is a common issue in plus size sewing patterns which I'm very familiar with so I wouldn't be surprised. It's a shame because i like that top a lot but i want it to be oversized as intended. Oversized clothes on fat bodies is a-ok!

Yay, this is so helpful! I also noticed grading inconsistencies with the calad shirt, as the sleeves seem to also be way tighter in larger sizes (for example in my size I would only get 2cm of positive ease on the sleeves - while it looks like it should have very roomy sleeves)

Hii! Just wanted to note something for my patterns lol they all use either different yarn weights or different fibres (cotton Vs acrylic tend to work up differently). And each pattern has their own nuances for sizing, based on the number of stitches needed and the positive ease they have. Greatly appreciate the breakdown for everyone! 🙌🏻 looking forward to seeing which pattern you’re thinking of working up next ☺️

Thanks for this list. A lot of these have more of a "guy in touch with his fem side" vibe than I would wear (I'm bigender), but this kind of list is way too rare and we need more of them. I end up designing my own stuff or copying purchased clothing because masc patterns can legit be that hard to find for certain styles. And so so many of the sewing and knitting channels i love focus highly on skirts or very fem fits. And sometimes, that's just frustrating as someone that leans heavily masc. As an aside, what I've found is that even if it's a more fem style, of you up-size it, it will generally have a masc fit. Shoot for wider in the shoulders, a bit more length in the sleeves, and less shaping overall. Happy making to all! May we all achieve our self-made wardrobes no matter our gender needs! 💜

Love this because I too have been searching for masc patterns! I was working on the Yolanda Shirt test when it came on the screen so it felt a bit surreal but can confirm it’s an amazing pattern and already have it in my future plans to make one for my husband. I would also add in the Dionne Vest by Crochet Faeries (made to measure houndstooth vest), Jebel Button Up by Handmade by Hannah Louise, and Mod Squared Vest by Mae Crochets as some patterns I’ve either made/had my eye on that can easily be made more masc

Just found you and immediately subscribed! I'm excited to try out some of your graphic tee patterns, especially the dinosaurs! While watching, I was working on the Coast to Coast Wrap by Two of Wands. I'm using the same/similar colors as recommended by the pattern, and honestly, it's kind of masculine, aside from being a wrap, which we often think is more womens-wear (how silly). My husband likes to wear my handknits, including an oversized shawl we refer to as the "shawlanket". I'm guessing he'll steal the Coast to Coast Wrap (or maybe share it with me if I'm lucky haha). Thanks for all the fun ideas in your video!

I’m definitely gonna make that first pattern for pride next year. I’m working to be more neutral/positive towards my body and I think a shirt like that could give me the feeling of coverage while bridging the gap to being comfortable showing my stomach. I also just like mesh shirts and think it’d be fun to make my own!!! And depending how much yarn it takes, I might actually be able to make it now.

i feel like so many patterns for more feminine “summer tops” do NOT take bigger chests into consideration, even when something is made to measure its just not feasible for me to wear a crocheted cup over my boob with nothing under it… even despite the fact it wouldn’t fit properly and show way more skin than i’m comfortable with, being in the hot summer with no support for my boobs sounds extremely uncomfortable 😭 i really appreciate the short sleeve shirts and tank tops in here and i’m definitely going to add a few of these patterns to my list of things i hope to eventually get to (especially your t rex shirt, oh my goodness it looks so cute)

Love this list. As a trans man just getting into crochet, whose personal style is somewhere between goth metalhead, dad at a barbecue, and hobbit (autumn/winter)/retired gay man at the beach (summer), a lot of the beginner patterns I have been coming across have been for household stuff (decor or functional), or really cute things that I could make for my mom/sisters/cousins, but it's harder to find clothing items I can make for myself-- I like both softer and harder masculine expression, depending on the day, but oftentimes if it's an item designed for men, it fits awkwardly just because I'm also hobbit-sized. My inner gay beach grandpa is going to find some rainbow yarn to make your mesh tank in, for a fun summer layering option, for sure. (and when I'm a little more confident as a crocheter, the tee rex and fruity button up both look like a lot of fun and exactly my style)

So true about mens fashion avoiding colour which is why I hated mens clothing all through my childhood. Thankfully there are more fun options now. I think it's the millennial tech bros fault who only wears the same black t-shirt every day. Thanks for the recommendations :)

I specifically pick a pretty mindless one! I was just casting on and starting ribbing for this. I definitely did pause to count and stuff off camera!

I’ve only knotted a very basic scarf because sometimes I can get overwhelmed with reading patterns. I do want to get back into it and try to make a sweater. Can anyone tell me if the on fire sweater is somewhat beginner friendly? My brain is telling me I need to make it right now no matter what

I love that literally in the first 30 seconds you say clothing doesn't have a gender. If I wasn't already subscribed I would have immediately subbed. I've crocheted for 16 years and counting and this is really the first I've felt including in wearables as a non-binary person. Kudos
