Mikeado66 I recall during the 24 Hours of Daytona that the hypercar class was dead due to lack of manufacturers getting involved. IMSA and the ACO reached an agreement to use the Daytona Prototype International (or DPi) as the leading class.

Ender as far as I heard earlier in the year, hypercar as a class (the leading class) was dead, WEC or anything else. Aston Martin pulled the plug after there was no major announcements from other manufacturers. Renault was looking into a hypercar program, that was ended shortly after Aston Martin ended theirs. I was super excited when the hypercar class was announced, and truly disappointed that it won’t likely happen anytime soon. Now, if the WEC is still going ahead with the hypercar class, that would be great. I just don’t see it happening because of the new agreement between ACO and IMSA. It would mean that the DPi class would be a new version of LMP2, which means teams from America would likely not go to Le Mans as they couldn’t have a chance at outright victory. If there’s proof of the WEC going forward with the hypercar class, please provide the information.

Lmao I stole so many subscriptions to car magazines like Motor Trend, Road & Track, and Car and Driver. Back then you could just send in a little card and theyd give you a free trial copy of whatever magazine you wanted. There was also one centered around JDM tuner houses and cars like Amuse, Mines etc. I used to look forward to the end of the school day so I could go home and read the latest Motor Trend 😂

I call this the Forgotten Supercar. Most people mention the Ferraris and Lamborghinis if you asked them. For some reason not many name the MC12. Maserati is more known for their Grand Turismos it seems. Shame, this is a great car.

@@jjmuniActually the MC12 is based on the Enzo, but the wheelbase is longer, not to mention that the aero body shape is different, at least when it comes to aesthetics. It’s also to consider that the MC12 topped the Enzo by 1 second in the Nürburgring lap time records. This car was launched by Maserati in 2004 in order to have a base for the racing variant supposed to compete in the FIA GT1 Championship, winning 5 of them in a row. And by the way, the road legal version was produced in just 50 examples, with a starter price of €720,000, now reaching up to €5,000,000. So I wouldn’t consider it just a “reskinned Enzo”.

Thanks for sharing! I got to see the MC12 race in America at Sonoma Raceway and Laguna Seca in 2005. As usual though, no one could really give the Corvettes a serious challenge.

Thats what motorsport is all about!!! The smell of clutch,petrol ,and rubber.The houling sound of the v8 and v10 works of art that we people call engines.And now after all these epic motorsport years ,FIA opens the gates and introdouce us to formula E and other E shit.Thanks FIA you fucked it up big time with the restrictions on motorsport and electrical power drill races thaks a lot!
