This is still the best sounding sedan ever, in my opinion. The 2010 BMW M5 and Aston Martin, etc., sound great. But I still think the 2010 Maserati sounds better.

He didn't mention to check for a rattle from cold start for around 10 seconds. Could be the cam variators wearing, which can be unpleasantly expensive. Only had minor issues with my QP almost at 60k miles. Service it, love it, and will make your heart sing.

@@petroa.9134 Wouldn't expect any significant rattle from the exhaust, from my experience. Cam variators are a fairly distinct sound, will sound like somebody dropped a big bag of marbles in the engine for the first 10 seconds or so until the oil gets to everything, it's a dry sump engine after all.

@@wrapdump ok nice ;) I just asked because my dad had one a few years ago and it was awesome but sometimes it rattled a little bit after the cold start ( i'm pretty sure it was just the exhaust valve ) It's always good to know stuff like this in case i can ever afford one ;)

@@petroa.9134 So mine does that on a very cold start, particularly if it has been parked on an upward incline, nothing to worry about if it's only for a second. That's just a result of the car being dry-sumped, I was told not to worry about that by my dealer anyway. Glad to know you enjoyed it :)

Correct, they gradually get worse over time. Ours started rattling for 2 seconds, but after maybe 100 cold starts it developed to a 10 second rattle and in the end they completely fail and you get lots of engine errors. Repair costs are well over $3000 for just replacing the cam variators, but ofcourse there are also other things to replace when you take the engine out and you end up with a $6000-8000 bill with a new timing chain, oil change, filters change, gaskets, waterpump oil ring replacement (which fail often as well) and more

Nice video. I had a 07 sport GT automatica. A few areas I would add that should be inspected prior to purchase: Alternator, Battery, suspension bushings, motor mounts and most importantly cam variators.

I adore the idea behind the duoSelect. (Hopefully its outworking is durable and persistent too.) I want a sportive, agile car which unfortunately I can't get as a Mercedes-Guy in the CL, S, CLS, or even CLK-Class, not least because of their lazy automatic transmissions.

I've seen 2012 S with 35k miles for $35-36k....these cars are dirt cheap. But if something major breaks you could expect an easy $10k bill from dealer (as I read in forums). At the same time they are fairly reliable, I've seen one with 160k miles for sale....crazy. PS. I think GTS doesn't have Skyhook so you don't need to worry about electronic suspension issues

The ZF6 gearbox that hey got after 2008 is pretty much unkillable so I wonder how reliable the rest of the car actually is if one was crazy enough and try to daily it. It is a gorgeous car with an engine note to kill for in the end.

I actually prefer the previous (139 series) Quattroporte than the new 156 series. The previous was Italian at heart. New one is still a respectable design but seems to me is trying to appeal to everyone. I'm sure it's a financially sound move but it lost some of the essenza in the process. Too strategized and dare I say, too German.

I own this car and used this video as buying advice. it's a fun car but the total costs a year (easily 10k) are not worth it. I'm going to hold on to it for 2 more years.

@@sebastiaan5380 It has to go to the Maserati service atleast twice a year....easily 3K. Then you will have broken parts every year which comes down to a few K as well. And finally you have the famous Clutch. Every 60.xxx KM you need to get it changed.

I hav a 2009 Maserati QP 4.7 Executive GT since new. 53k miles in perfect condition after replaced... -all 3 engine mounts -all 4 suspension bushings -completely replaced entire cooling system -2 front connecting rod bushings -replaced variator with new TEM tech variator -replaced 3 front speakers w/ Foçal beryllium copper + 400w Helix amp -30pin to bluetooth converter I hav test driven countless other cars but NOTHING makes me happy like my Maserati Quattroporte 4.7.....i may add an MC20.

Am I looking at a 2005 Maserati Quattroporte with 38000 miles. Clutch was replaced at 31,000 miles at a Maserati Ferrari dealership. Anyone owned this car and has any good advice?

Hi. I drove an 08. The car held well for 2yrs i had it. Just keep the maintenance up. Do you have the auto-manual?? Or auto with gear paddles?

Duoselect is horrible... so be prepared to sell it at around 50,000 miles in order to avoid paying for new clutch
