Just a useless fact for anybody who doesn't really care: "mashinky" is a russian word and it translates kinda like "little cars", mainly referring to small toy cars like hot wheels. But the word includes everything vehicle related, hence the trains...

It is in fact from a near identical Czech word, as the author is Czech. It is an obvious loanword derived from "machines" but in Czech it specifically applies to trains. Or "little trains" to be precise (not referring only to size, but also as a sign of affection).

I don't like the money system stages, the first few stages are ok, but when I hit the oil stage I couldn't just upgrade all my engines because the routes didn't pay the fee to for that engine type, my passenger trains had to keep using steam. Is that by design? Did I do something wrong?

Yeah, other people were reporting that useless train message problem--patch day problem! ;-p (Not sure if anyone had them actually messing up and going backwards, though.) And you should KNOW they renamed it to be the John Lennon airport in Liverpool, as you mentioned it on a stream. When trying to choose train cars, use the filters underneath to save a lot of scrolling and wondering what does what. You never really set-up the second runway correctly, you missed some taxi routes. ;-p (Love that they circle to wait for a clear runway--and that you managed to replicate a too busy airport to cause that.) And you NEVER clicked on ANY plane to see the cash it was making in statistics--all other things, but never a plane! ;-p ~~~ I Know you were focused on the planes, BUT, there is the city planning part that you didn't do at all. Yes, the towns/cities will build new houses automatically, BUT, in planning, you can spend (I think $25) to say build a house HERE. And you obviously plan to build the houses in your catchment area, as automatic city building likely will NOT put them in your area. Although, you never got rid of all the passengers in the two large cities, so obviously didn't need more! ;-p But as you noted, it was all due to bus routes, so good luck trying to clear those people out unless you made direct to each station route with lots of busses--but then it would be an epic traffic jam that even Biffa couldn't fix!

im always looking out for a more unique train simulator experience. it certainly isnt this though. I hope to find one that would go back to the Stephenson Rocket era of trains, maybe make your own train and have it simulated in a early 1800's style game.
