This is an amazing lecture! He talked about 'social capital.' In Makkah the messenger of God (peace be upon him) had significant social capital i.e. he looked after the orphans, he fed the poor etc He was known for his good works to such an extent that he was called al Ameen, the trustworthy. It was very easy for people to believe in his message because his character was known, he had 'social capital.'

@sharonbrown (and all non-sense talkers here), you are taking Suhaib Webb's lecture completely out of context. If you are going to criticize Suhaib, do us a favor spell his name correctly. First seek to understand if you want to be understood. You are talking non-sense about matters which you have no idea or knowledge about. Suhaib is an honorable member of the Muslim and Islamic community in America and abroad. People know him very well. The question is, who are you? Why should we believe the non-sense you are saying about him over the intellectual and theological contributions of this great man. Please do us a favor, if you don't have anything good to say - just don't say it for your sake because you are the transgresser and in Islam, God dislikes transgressers (so do we).
