"Gorgeous is that head of hair - that stands out and true -- like no other!!!" "In truth, in strength, in womanhood -- sheer, sheer, & sheer - beauty! That is, Masih et aliae!" "There is no flag large enough to cover the shame of killing innocent people." "TO BE HOPEFUL in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty, but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness. What we choose to emphasize in this complex history will determine our lives. If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something. If we remember those times and places-and there are so many-where people have behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this spinning top of a world in a different direction. And if we do act, in however small a way, we don’t have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory." "The challenge remains. On the other side are formidable forces: money, political power, the major media. On our side are the people of the world and a power greater than money or weapons: the truth. Truth has a power of its own. Art has a power of its own. That age-old lesson - that everything we do matters - is the meaning of the people’s struggle here in the United States and everywhere. A poem can inspire a movement. A pamphlet can spark a revolution. Civil disobedience can arouse people and provoke us to think, when we organize with one another, when we get involved, when we stand up and speak out together, we can create a power no government can suppress. We live in a beautiful country. But people who have no respect for human life, freedom, or justice have taken it over. It is now up to all of us to take it back." "We don't have to engage in grand, heroic actions to participate in the process of change. Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world." "But I suppose the most revolutionary act one can engage in is... to tell the truth." ~ Howard Zinn

Very good and interesting interview. I noticed comments made towards the deficiencies of both the Obama and Biden administrations towards Iran specifically the atomic agreement, yet nothing discussed of the Trump administrations rejection of that agreement. I’d would be curious to hear Masih’s thoughts on that political move. Good luck to her and the Iranian people on their quest for political freedom.

No that is complete nonsense. Iran has many activists that have given their lives and fought for change from within Reza may be nice IDC about that but the youth and the true activists will not accept any form of monarchy it's outdated and unnecessary Iran will manage fine. Polls show dissatisfaction with the few constitutional monarchies remaining in the world and we don't need another

@@livecalm2246 the only coup was in 53 to derail democracy and reinstitute monarchy by force through foreign intervention that's the most preposterous argument I've heard yet. You've given opinions but little facts. The Queen reaction was media spectacles look at polls most Brits are at best disenchanted with and at worst want it gone. It's a waste of tax money draining resources from a crumbling healthcare system with rampant inflation and deteriorating economy uk is facing a prong of crisis and the monarchy is just a soap opera at this point.

@@livecalm2246 that's so silly. Preventing coups will be done through strobg democratic institutions and a strong civil society look at the united States it's built on resisting monarchy of any form and it's constitution itself is the basis to resist this. Masih Alinejad's passionate speeches are empowering, and they often move me to tears for some reason. Regarding the responsibility of the West and America to really substantively push for human rights around the world, it is important to realize that the responsibility is a two-way process. The Iranian people are good people but we are also deeply attached to the past and have difficulty moving forward. To this very day, I hear some people (in my parents' generation) speak with surprising resentment about Queen Elizabeth. It is important to know history and learn from it, as long as we do it fairly, intellectually, and in a balanced way. But it is not okay to allow history to run our lives and stop us from making collective progress as human beings. American and Western women politicians and politicians in general know that if they even appear to be interfering with Iran's revolution, it runs the risk of a backlash by the extremists. This is because even moderate Iranians don't boldly call for the universal, international enforcement of basic human rights by the entire international community. It's not just limited to Iranians. Our global culture, our human culture, has not shifted to the point of thinking that human rights and their enforcement are a global international responsibility. The human community needs to learn from the amazing people of Japan who have accepted the constitution that was written for them by general MacArthur and his team. We must learn from these extraordinary souls the way of peace and harmony, and from all sides we must come together, united as human beings for a better future.
