1/8 or 1/4" blue striping tape is good for tight or complex curves. It can be made less sticky by applying a very light coat of talcum powder to the sticky side. Put a small amount like a tsp in a saucer and pick up a little on your thumb and rub it gently on the tape. You can also with a sharp knife slice thin strips of the Frog tape to use as striping tape. If the striping tape is too thin you can double it and or use full width tape in addition. Once you've got your curve with the striping tape the full width tape is easy follow the curve of the thinner tape.

Great video! I have a question I been using masking fluid on my canvas when I peel it off little bits are stuck to the canvas and I can’t seem to get it off how do I remove this and can I varnish over there bits when the painting is dried? Thank you

The trick to masking fluid is to remove right away. That's why I peel while the paint is still moist. If I get some stuck I use a pencil eraser to remove it. Rubber cement thinner works too, bit it'll dissolve your paint too. What type of masking fluid are you using?

@@markbenavidez356 thank you for replying, I’m using the same as you. My painting is pretty big 30 x 40“ and I masked off my little subjects to put the background and I can’t get tiny bits off I have tried everything I have, rubber knifes pallet knife water and still there You think I should remove it before varnishing my painting or is it okay to leave the tiny bits on Thank you

@@carlosstfc321 being a large piece you may be able to get away with leaving it and varnishing over. If it were a smaller piece or if the texture was in a focal point I'd sand it down a little then retouch it.
