If u double click the text box from bottom it will will resize to fit the text. It's a quicker way compared to goin to menu and choosing fitting options

The rectangle where not perfectly centered because when you draw a default rectangle there's a 1pt stroke around and in indesign when you inverse the color from the stroke and the filling it will fill the rectangle but only in the inside of the previous stroke and not replace it ! so when you do that the second rectangle will actually be smaller than the first one you drew!

I know this is an old video. But the character and paragraph controls can still be on top if your control window is on. It should be on by default. Once you place your text box and start typing, you'll see the control panel change with the left two buttons being character controls like fonts and size, and the other button is the paragraph controls.

make sure the blue form and the text are not grouped also make sure you have clicked first on the text (and its thext which is being selected) and then with shift on the blue shape (and again make sure that the blue shape is being selected / and the 2 arent grouped) then do the exclude part i had the same thing happening to me for a good 5 min but thanfully i figgured it out

Hey guys, i'm trying to do the pathfinder option with a paragraph of text (i have converted to outlines) over a shape. Indesign doesn't let me click the extrude option or any of the other options. Does anyone know the reason for this? It works when I write a title or just a couple of words but not a 4-5 line paragraph.

This is destructive; the parts of the text that are "see through" no longer exist. How do you cut a shape from another NON-DESTRUCTIVELY; i.e., wherever I move a rectangle over another object, it just clears or masks out the object that's underneath?

It's fairly easy in Photoshop. ---- Type your text > Right mouse click this text layer and click Rasterize Type> Create new layer atop the text layer> Place your image in that layer>Right mouse>click Create Clipping Mask.

Convert the image to 16bits , make duplicate layer, apply gaussian blur or surface blur, add inverted layer mask, paint the banding out with a white brush on the layer mask, covert back to 8bits

Hey Paul, I typically always use shortcuts. However for video tutorials, sometimes people watching can get lost with what just happening if it's too quick, so I like to show the original location in the menu, and then they can view the shortcut command for themselves :)

You don't need to outline the text for this. Just hold "alt" when you click intersect in the pathfinder window. That way you can stay non-destructive. Huzzah.
