This is one of my favourite books of all time. There's so much to think about in the grand themes running through the book but at the same time it's laced with beautifully intimate moments that really pack a punch and invest you in what's happening. You're absolutely right about how pynchon doesn't condescend his readers, his books, although extremely wise, have a friendly almost conversational feel at times. Like talking to an old friend. Also it has a talking dog, let's be honest thats worth some extra points.

Through the sweep of history that this book deals with, I believe this book in the end is a love story between the two main characters.

I'm currently 450pgs in reading It and I think it pairs superbly with Noah Chadwell Gervais's Lincoln Highway video. Great review 👌

I love Mason & Dixon, I think it’s easily my favorite Pynchon. Read it about a year ago and I was blown away with its wit, characterization, and absolutely beautiful prose.
