I'm such a Mason Earle fan, such a badass athlete, and an inspiring individual. A couple of years ago I was looking for news about him, some new ascent or a repetition of a cool route, and found out about his illness. Such a heartbreaking moment, especially cause he seems such a nice person. I really wish him the best, and I wish more people would check out this conversation and the historical ascents Mason put up throughout the years. Thanks Hazel for the content.

Yea he’s absolutely incredible, one of the only people I idolize. I broke my back and developed recurrent pericarditis at the same time almost 4 years ago, and spent many hundreds of days and nights in bed watching Mason, Hazel, Tommy, and others on their adventures. It got me through and I promised myself when I was better I’d move to Colorado and start climbing, even thought I had no experience previously. I’ve got my back better, pericarditis manageable, and I just climbed ice for the first time in Ouray this week at Ice Fest. Sometimes the worst things in life can make you better, and I know for sure Mason is gonna make it through this and come out the other side a better man, no matter how hard it may be. Quit isn’t in his blood.

thank you for talking about what is clearly personal and really difficult. so thought provoking on the importance of facing adversity, waaay beyond the realm of climbing. pls carry on being badass and kind at the same time.

Omg incredible! 20 minutes into this and I've got to pause it as post trauma ptsd and floods of emotion threaten to overwhelm my day.
