Life often presents us with moments where we're torn between emotions - unsure whether to feel joy, despair, or astonishment. We find ourselves at crossroads, struggling to distinguish right from wrong, as our desires clash with reality. In such times, our mind questions, 'What to do?' We never expected life to unfold this way. Who better to understand life's intricacies than the renowned poet, lyricist, director, and screenplay writer, Gulzar Saab (Sampooran Singh Kalra)? He has masterfully woven life's complexities into his songs, but when he expresses bewilderment with life in the song from the movie Masoom, our mind pauses to introspect and understand the philosophy of life. Gulzar Saab is a unique lyricist whose words resonate with our own emotions and experiences. His songs echo our unspoken thoughts, making us feel, 'This is exactly what we wanted to express.' He is the emperor of our film industry..Now, listen to this song from Masoom (1983), whose every word remains relevant even today. Whether you're happy or sad, you won't be able to resist humming this tune.. PANCHAM DA'S musical genius shone brightly in the movie Masoom, where he boldly experimented with eight playback singers for the film's five songs. Five of these singers were new talents, adding freshness to the soundtrack. One such discovery was Anup Ghoshal, a renowned semi-classical singer from West Bengal, known for his work in Satyajit Ray's iconic 'Goopy Bagha' films. Ghoshal made his Hindi film debut with the soulful "Tujhse Naraz Nahin Zindagi Haraan Hun Main," infusing the song with a haunting resonance reminiscent of Kishore Kumar (Kishore Da). Unconfirmed reports suggest that Satyajit Ray personally has asked KISHORE DA to recommend Ghoshal to PANCHAM DA. Although Ghoshal's breakthrough performance earned him the Bengal Film Journalist's Award, his career unfortunately failed to sustain the momentum sparked by this iconic song. Despite this fleeting success, "Tujhse Naraz Nahin" remains an enduring testament to Ghoshal's talent and PANCHAM DA'S innovative spirit. Thanks Swapan DA for uploading this song which has etched its place in the annals of Bollywood music history as a timeless classic, leaving an indelible mark with its distinctive essence. Every time it's played, it will instantly resonate with listeners, forging a deep connection that transcends time. 🙏🌹🙏

@@SwapanDas Swapan Da, Most of the music lovers might be knowing that Bhupinder Singh Ji (Bhupi Da) was the first to bring the 12-STRING GUITAR to BOLLYWOOD. His iconic performance in chartbuster 'DUM MARO DUM' (1971) remains unforgettable. Here I wanted to say about "12 STRING ELECTRIC GUITAR", that Sunil Kaushik Ji proudly claims to have introduced it to BOLLYWOOD with this iconic song, a milestone he personally confirmed in a radio interview. You're really very lucky to have experienced the magic of Sunil Kaushik Ji and Bhanu Da Gupta performing together live - that's truly special..still one of your all-time favorite memories?

Ah, what words of eloquence and depth have graced the subject of this immortal composition! Indeed, life, with all its bewildering conundrums, leaves us, much like the verses of Gulzar Saab, perched upon the precipice of contemplation. In the timeless melodies of Masoom, one does not merely listen but embarks on a journey through the corridors of one's own emotions, navigating the labyrinth of joys, sorrows, and the wistful perplexities of existence. As thou hast rightly extolled, Gulzar Saab, akin to a modern-day philosopher-poet, deftly wields his quill to pen verses that mirror the unspoken musings of our hearts. His words do not simply serenade the ear, but they stir the very soul, unraveling the delicate threads of life’s quandaries, wherein we often find ourselves caught between the pangs of desire and the starkness of reality. And how befitting it is to speak of Pancham Da, the maestro who, with bold innovation, breathed life into these melodies by weaving together voices both seasoned and fresh, crafting a tapestry of sound that resonates with the human spirit across ages. Anup Ghoshal’s haunting rendition of “Tujhse Naaraz Nahin Zindagi,” though ephemeral in his career’s ascent, remains a luminous testament to his artistry and to the boundless creative vision of Pancham Da. Thus, we owe a debt of gratitude to those, like *Swapan Da*, who have brought these gems back to light, reminding us of the ineffable beauty that music, especially that which emerges from such virtuosos, bestows upon us. Indeed, these melodies transcend mere entertainment; they become an echo of our innermost selves, a harmonious companion through life’s ever-unfolding narrative. ❣❣❣“If music be the food of love, play on,” for such timeless classics shall ever nurture the soul.♥♥♥

Aarti Mukherjee's collaboration with PANCHAM DA proved serendipitous, catapulting her to national acclaim. Despite her early successes in GEET GATA CHAL (1975) & TAPASYA (1976), it was her soulful rendition of "Do Naina Ek Kahani" from MASOOM (1983) that earned her the coveted Filmfare Award. Their artistic partnership began with the Bengali film Aparupa, followed by contracts for RUSVAI (1983) and MASOOM. Interestingly, PANCHAM DA faced skepticism from another singer, who questioned his decision to introduce a new voice. Undeterred, PANCHAM DA attributed his choice to the film's art-house nature and limited budget. Prior to recording, PANCHAM DA meticulously guided Aarti Mukherjee through the song's nuances, breaking it down into manageable elements. After mere rehearsals, the song was perfected in a single take, with a backup take reserved for contingency. Unaware of the impending success, Aarti Mukherjee returned to Calcutta, only to be surprised months later by the news of her Filmfare win for this timeless classic. As a devoted music enthusiast, I am deeply aware that PANCHAM DA'S magnum opus, 'Do Naina Ek Kahani',' embodies an unparalleled depth, transcending the boundaries of mortal expression. This timeless masterpiece weaves a rich tapestry of emotions, defying the limits of language & thought. Thank you, Swapan Da, for sharing this stunningly beautiful & sentimental composition with us. The carefully selected antaras + deeply meaningful expressions have truly made it a masterpiece for the listeners.🙏🌹🙏 PART 1/2

*Unveiling the Timeless Classic: 'Do Naina Aur Ek Kahani'* In 1983, the iconic film 'MASOOM' serenaded audiences with PANCHAM DA'S enchanting melody, Gulzar Sahab's poignant lyrics & Aarti Mukherjee's soulful rendition. This haunting song weaves a universal tale of longing, hiding, and revealing emotions through the windows of the soul - the eyes. *A Monsoon of Emotions* The movie's narrative unfolds amidst a gloomy monsoon, brought upon the family by the father's infidelity. The mother's anguished heart sings a lullaby of sorrow, to her daughters. Meanwhile, the child born out of wedlock yearns for his mother's love, tentatively seeking solace in his new "mother." Gulzar Sahab's masterful lyrics encapsulate this intricate emotional tapestry. *==>* To get the most out of my thoughts, consider watching the film or music video first. It will add a new layer of depth & understanding to the deep emotions this song is carrying. *Musical Mastery* PANCHAM DA'S orchestration paints a sonic canvas of pathos and longing. The Mukhda's minimalist rhythm, generated by bass guitar, shakers, & attractive/effective guitar riffs, beautifully complements Gulzar Sahab's words. The heavenly flute & twelve-string guitar conjure an atmosphere of melancholy. Percussion is sparingly used, with tabla making a brief appearance in the Antara. *Poetic Genius* Gulzar Sahab's innovative writing form elevates the song's poetry. This unique structure consists of three "hemistichs" (misra), where the first two lines convey meaning, and the third adds depth. The lyrics' symmetrical rhythm & rhyme scheme showcase the composer's creativity. *Timeless Legacy* This iconic song remains an unforgettable testament to the genius of PANCHAM DA, Gulzar Sahab & Aarti Mukherjee. Its beauty lies in its ability to evoke personal interpretations, resonating with each listener's imagination. *In my opinion, this song is a crowning achievement that beautifully encapsulates life's joys and sorrows in a harmonious blend. Aarti Mukherjee's soulful rendition is truly unparalleled - every word resonates with depth and emotion, as if she has lived each note. Her performance transcends mere singing; it's an immersive experience.* *No matter how many times you listen, this song never grows old. You'll find yourself hitting repeat, drawn into its timeless allure. Every lyric pierces the heart, vividly portraying the isolation and longing that connects us all.* *This song weaves a unique narrative, illustrating how one moment merges into another. When despair sets in, its soothing melody offers solace, guiding you through life's turmoil. It reassures you that better days await, reminding you that the future belongs to you.* *A poignant reflection of life's ebbs and flows, this song touches the heart, comforting and inspiring with each listen.* Swapan Da, Your selection of songs in a unique format is highly appreciated, especially highlighting the most meaningful aspects of both the compositions (Which are exceptional in their entirety). Sound quality & presentation are just superb. 🙏🌹🙏 Part 2/2 (Last part)

@@singhs2211 "Do Naina" is my personal favorite, was wondering you didn't mentioned about it in your initial comment/write-up. Glad you kept it for a separate exclusive write-up. Thank you ❣️ 🙏 so much for this beautiful analysis of it. Masoom LP could be one of the most played LP by me, and hence it carries some distortion of over usage that too of playing it initially on old record player having ceramic cartridge which may have created distortions because of over usage. You are correct, sometimes watching the songs (video) brings out more essence of the song, this song being one such. I love every aspect of this song, you have touched every aspect of it. I just want to add, the song sonically also sounds great - beautiful sound with freshness and modern touch. Listen it with good headphones or in a decent setup, you will enjoy it more because of great sounding. Thank you.😊

@@SwapanDasDA, So far, I have noticed that most of the music lovers have revealed a unanimous admiration for this film's songs, with each person having a special fondness for all the marvelous composition of this film with no one dismissing even a single song as unremarkable. As I have already mentioned earlier, the film's music, songs, and poignant lyrics are unparalleled & unforgettable. When the lyrics, melody & vocals come together at such a high level, other aspects become secondary. Most music lovers will find themselves emotionally connected to at least one phase of their life through these compositions. While all the songs from this film are extremely dear to me, Aarti Mukherjee's rendition of this particular song resonates with me a bit more, followed closely by Anoop Ghoshal's 'Tujhe Naaraz Nahin Zindagi'. I thought it would be better to write about both the compositions separately, so I could express my thoughts more effectively. That's why I have described the two songs in separate accounts instead of combining them into one. 🙏
