Hey! Thanks for the useful video. I actually have the same after market MAF on my e46 318i (n42) - different engine. I get a semi rough idle here and there, pretty sluggish acceleration in some gears at certain rpm (although old car with smaller engine), plus an error code for the sensor, so it could do with replacing I think. I don’t believe this MAF is compatible but do you happen to know what oem is for the n42 engine? Departo suggested one from Hellas (apparently an ex-manufacturer for bmw). Autodoc offered a Bosch. I’m hearing across the board that anything other than oem won’t work well, so I’m keen to resolve properly. Thanks!!
@DIYTEA Жыл бұрын
Honestly for the N42 I dont know which oem manufacturer it was for the MAF. But I think it should be bosch because when you look for used MAFs on ebay, they are all from Bosch as original parts.

Hello, sorry my bad english. I measure with the tester, red cable on the ECU measurement terminal, I start the car and it gives me 0.5v, when accelerating it gives me 2v or a little more, are they correct? It's a BMW e46 325i. Unstable cold start. going well! Thanks

M54b25. My old Siemens and Atec mafs are showing 3,22 and 3,3 g/s at idle and I have Lean codes p0171 + p0174. With a new Siemens(VDO/Continental) it shows at 744 rpm 4 g/s (14.4kg/h) and no codes. So I have almost 50% more air consumption as you. Trims are perfekt. How is it possible?

Can’t get a straight answer, it seems the OEM mass airflow sensor has three different brand names the box says continental you said it was a Seimens and the BDO or VDO? Mine says Siemens I thought it was an aftermarket I’m having issues. Got the car as payment from someone recently they said it had a bad O2 sensor but I suspect it is actually the MAF Ships and run smoother when it’s plugged in but goes into lamp mode so I unplugged it again after trying to drive it for a couple of days it doesn’t always do the same thing and the air filter was dirty.
@DIYTEA2 жыл бұрын
Very simple: the OEM part ist VDO. this company was belonging to Siemens, that's why Siemens VDO. But now the VDO brand ist belonging to continental.

@@DIYTEA Thankyou you explained it in the video Thankyou very much. How long should I give it to relearn before I need to just get a new mass airflow sensor it shifts better with the sensor plugged in but occasionally goes into limp mode so I unplugged it again

VDO is over 300 bucks I want to be sure
@DIYTEA2 жыл бұрын
@@kyplummer3657 The part number of the VDO Maf sensor is 1432356 (BMW part number). But the manufacturer part number is 5WK96050Z (VDO part number). I got if for 160€, may arround 170 bucks. 300 is too much. Check online may be you find a cheaper one. Some part sellers are may be still selling the MAF which comes in the old white box under the brand VDO Siemens and pretending that the part is the only one 100% OEM. That's not true because the VDO is now under the brand Continental and the box looks diffrent (like on my video) and the part is the same. The adaptation will take some days, in my case was may be 3 days. It depends from several factors. You have just to drive the car, the ECU will do the necessary.

@DIYTEA Жыл бұрын
I did a lot of things on the car and I noticed a better fuel consumption. Now I got arround 8.4 L/100km in a mixed driving cycle. But in my case the Mass air flow sensor was not causing a higher fuel consumption. But the old one does because he was faulty.
