Mass air flow sensor (MAF) cleaning with brake cleaner

This guy is great, I took my car to him to top up the air in the tyres. He's so good, he removed the four wheels then checked and filled the air. OK, it cost £120..How else can he hand over an invoice for £120! This is how to do as little as possible for as much as possible.

You could just unscrew smalll screws on top, remove connector and pull out MAF sensor in 20 seconds, no need to remove airfilter case or anything else :) (OFC except on vehicles where MAF sensor is part of airflow tube.

I suggest you remove engine or if you are in a hurry just undo the two screws that secure the sensor !

for petes sake dude GET A NEW AIR FILTER THATS YOUR REAL PROBLEM. Also use alcohol to clean of the brake fluid residue from the MAS or you are just looking for trouble. just pour it onto it for a few seconds and let it dry. Or if you can , swish it around in a container and let it dry.

DO NOT use brake cleaner! It can damage the sensitive hotwire beyond repair. Buy the proper airflow sensor cleaner, it's only $8 a can for Pete's sake.

@@dhalsim-1 Most of today's brake cleaners contain tetrachloroethylenetoluene ( a corrosion inhibitor), Toluene (non-corrosive), Dimethylcyclopentane (non-corrosive), Xylene (non-corrosive), Naphthalene (another a corrosion inhibitor), Butane (non-corrosive) so there's that. _Most_ MAF cleaners (like CRC) use n-Hexane as the active ingredient, and guess what, it's CORROSIVE, lol. Oops...

@@231mac Yeah let's just put brake cleaner on the MAF and MAF cleaner on the brakes from now on. Then we'll put windscreen washer in the gearbox and coolant in the gas tank while we're at it. They're all just liquids at the end of the day.

Where I am Maf cleaner is $30 a can. Brake cleaner is $4. They can hardly justify the difference.
