Thanks a lot for the video. Wasn't aware of this issue until I went below 12 MPG carrying loads. After cleanup my MPGs went beyond what I used to have when I bought the truck. FYI I had installed an oiled up K&N Filter. Kinda regret it now...

Glad we could help. Really bothered us, and surprised by how sensitive they were. But it makes sense. The ecoboost platform can even detect octane and adjust timing and power accordingly to make the most power. Any dirty sensor could cause you to loose power.

So was having a rough time in stop and go traffic around 20-30mph if I let the truck coast and lightly hit the gas the truck felt like it was misfiring for a second or two. I was going to take it to the dealer tomorrow Monday but thought let me clean these sensors and see what it does. The one on top of engine was visibly dirty. Others no. Cleaned them off. Boom. My girl is back. Thanks brother !!! Couldn’t believe that god her running smooth again.

You run the motorcraft paper filter for warranty purposes? I have been considering the AEM dryflow.
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 3 жыл бұрын
I actually run the WIX paper filter because of it's size and capacity to capture the fine dust. Also, I go thru a filter about once every 2 month and the cost is relatively low. Ive had problems with Reusable filters. I ran the K&N one for a while and later found a bunch of pink oil all over that first Sensor. So I stopped using it. Had a friend run the AFE Dry filter and it did not capture any of the fine dust. Not a good thing to let all that dust into the engine. So I just go with the tried and true high quality paper filters from Wix and I've never had problems.

Bro, take the 2 10 mm bolts that hold the engine cover off! So much easier for the back sensor! Cleaning them does make a huge difference
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad Жыл бұрын
I normally would agree with you, but access at the back is still limited. Your there a while supporting yourself in a very awkward and uncomfortable position. Having something soft to support yourself on helps out a lot. Specially for someone out of shape like me. And totally agree. I noticed a difference in MPG (minor but still there) and better throttle response after cleaning them. And the engine stopped hesitating on spirited driving which was the original reason we did this.
@richardherm1822

Have you done intake valve cleaning with CRC or other products with PEA in them? And watching the videos on how to use them they say you should not get it on your mass airflow sensor and looking at the three that are on the 3.5 eco-boost that might be kind of hard to do
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 2 жыл бұрын
I have not. When we had the ecoboost , the engines we had ran pretty good. But we were always beating them up, very little sitting in traffic, lots of highway and offroad mileage. I’ve heard a lot of guys that daily these trucks have issues and that may be why.

@@moultonlava72 At a 1/4 or 1/2 the cost of the name brand tools, I'll always get harbor freight. Ive had expensive electric tools like dewalt and ridgid and guess what, They fail too. And replacing them is extremely expensive. HB tools have been amazing and if a battery fails or something fails in 2-3 years I don't have to worry about the replacement cost. it's cheap and the expensive tools usually fail in the same time frame anyway so it's less money out of my pocket and more money for me and truck parts. HB is popular because they have made tools affordable and obtainable. I don't need to show off my tool, I just need to get the job done.
