Game 1 is why they nerfed the ER Vulcan Card. It turned Vulcan into a kill everything but air unit.
@eijffelbridge4 ай бұрын
Yeah it was a good call, but maybe overnerf? Could have kept a 10-15% atk boost. I think it wont be picked as much anymore, but I may be wrong. We'll see 😊
@storm0fnova4 ай бұрын
maybe, but i see the opponent stormcallers wrecking Grubby's sabertooths starting at 8:52, enabling the vulcans to move on to lower hp units and decimate. it could have easily gone the other way with some missile interceptors blocking stormcallers barrage, and the sabertooths slaughtering the vulcans first.
@larsordelmans28874 ай бұрын
@eijffelbridge I would have loved to see them increase the price of the card to like 200. It's a powerful card for sure, but picking it up early would be quite a big investment

@@storm0fnova Round 4: 8:52. No Vulcan upgrades. 9 seconds to kill the Sabertooth with ~1.5 volleys of storm missiles landing before the kill Round 5 at 11:27 the Rank 2 Vulcans with range and ignite destroy the Rank 2 Sabertooths in 6 seconds before a storm missile lands. Round 6: 5 seconds on both sides. Neither sabertooth has a single stormcaller missile hit. The saber dies while the missiles are in the air.

@@4FunCycle round 4, the left vulcan was 1 hit from dying by the sabertooth, with interceptors it would have blocked enough missiles for the saber to finish the job. the right sabertooth was distracted by the opponent's steel balls on the right flank (i don't know how he got enough cash to get 2 rank 2 vulcans and balls in one round that's 1400) round 5. could have added crawlers with mobile beacon in front of the sabers to pull aggro from the vulcans, crawlers flank his right to distract those balls, 300 investment round 6, once again, crawlers with mobile beacon mid in front to funnel the opponent, and then use the smoke to shut down their range advantage instead of using a beam across doing minimal damage i'm not saying those vulcans aren't strong AF but the damage could have been mitigated by a lot. Also photon coating makes sabers take 30% less damage and immune to ignite which was a huge part of the vulcan damage.

@15:26 there is indeed armor as an upgrade. It blocks 60 flat damage per unit upgrade
@Grimbago4 ай бұрын
Yeah, and there were multiple occasions when I won a game against mass Mustangs by simply getting this upgrade on Sledges.

@TinyNorg4 ай бұрын
I think he was talking about 'Armor' as a generalized stat in games that would presumably provide some type of damage mitigation - which that game does not in fact have unit to unit as far as I understand. You are correct it has a Tech Upgrade that would give a similar effect but I'd imagine people were wondering if different units took different dmg scaling or things just as a base mechanic.

5:46 I just checked an old thread, and it seems that the unit needs to be unlocked and BOUGHT in order for it not to appear as a free card unit.
@Arbeta100004 ай бұрын
This is correct! I'll add to that: The unit drops were added in a semi-recent patch, the goal of which was to try and incentivize players into making different types of units to create a more varied play experience. And so they decided that it should, wherever possible, offer units that neither player has decided to build yet, and to also make sure there're enough of them/that they are powerful enough that players will most likely try to make use of them rather than sell them immediately. So if you want to block a certain drop, you could theoretically unlock and buy one squad of that unit to block it from happening. It's not very efficient, and you'll not see it often. The giant spec and air specs are best at doing this because of their free unlocks.
@thiextar75374 ай бұрын
this is incorrect. Units that have a default free unlock cost ( crawler, fang, arc, sniper) need to be bought in order to not show up in unit drops. However, units that have an unlock cost by default (all other units) only need to be unlocked in order to not show up. This means, that if you are giant spec and get free giant unlocks, you can block any giant unit that you want from showing up in unit drops, simply by unlocking it. This actually one of giant specs biggest strengths currently.

lately i've been instilling the habit of checking units damage done every round, for both mine and the opponent's. especially if they come up with some new units or upgrades that i think are winning them the round. this way i can figure out what units on my side are performing well and prioritize upgrading them, what units are doing poorly and maybe sell them or maybe it's my strat and it's not working so i need to figure out a way to enable those units. also i can figure out what units on my opponent's side are performing well and prioritize countering them. check after i've implemented the counter to see if i've succeeded in shutting those down or not. this has allowed me to come back many times to win or consolidate my lead and crush the opposition without having them make a come back.

@GrubbyPlays You need to use the IonBlast vertically to kill his giant units. Place it behind and let it move to the front for example.

12:10 very bad placement of ion storm. If you would have north-south instead of west-east, starting a bit above the Vulcan, the storm would have travelled along the same path of the vulcan almost at the same speed and it would have devastated it, once that was gone, left flank would have been an easy win.

Game 2 was a great recovery, although I expected forts til the end of game 1. They are a great answer to early Vulkan that many players love getting. Even placed a bit too forward and out of position, it does very well by taking all the fire from vulkan and killing it in the process(equal levels and equipment ofc). So even if the opponent reacts with melter or some other heavy-duty fort kill, you are still very likely to cripple vulkan and re-enable your chaff again.

Susceptible to full counter by standard shield placements. Might be a good idea against range heavy opponents that sit behind forward shields. A lot of permutations of factors that could make it good or bad. Take it from someone who had the same idea on my first week playing, granted newbie vs newbie isn't great anecdotal evidence.

For a couple of turns you will destroy him and he will have to devote so many resource to stop that rhino plague that you will keep levelling meanwhile, that he will have to forfait his entire strategy, and you would instead adapt and win....i've never seen you flank, very bad my man, very bad.
