Wednesday 5th June 2019 - Possibly the most unique day in recent times at Duxford which saw the gathering of no fewer than 23 DC-3s, C-53, C47, C-41 & Li-2s from all over the world gather to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day. We see here 21 examples startup, taxi and depart Duxford bound for Normandy just as would have happened 75 years ago. Daks over Normandy is arguably the most incredible salute to the 156,000 allied troops that saw action on the 6th of June 1944. Please stay tuned for much more from this awesome event.

The aircraft loading paratroopers at time mark 0:00 and 1:34 tail number 348608 with the yellow cockpit Id letters "CD" is "Betsy's Biscuit Bomber", a C-47B built in 1943. It was flown from Paso Robles California, the aircraft is part of the Estrella Warbirds Museum collection there at the old WWII Estrella Army Air Corp base outside of Paso Robles California. This aircraft's last U.S. missions were flying the Berlin Airlift, it was sold to Israel and was later purchased back from the Israeli Air Force and refurbished, there is an Israeli language sign painted on the interior head-door that roughly reads, "The only replacement for a Dakota, is another Dakota". The plane was a military transport it's whole life and never converted for civilian us. It still has all of it's original equipment to include the 1943 over-sized desert type air-scoops atop the engines nacelles and the gear it used for towing combat gliders at Arnim.

I wish I could've been there to watch all these old DC-3s and C-47s flying at once. Hope all had safe jumps. Funny that there weren't any actual Dakotas there. But I guess you brits like to call them that. With regards to the name Dakota. My teacher in 8th grade flew a C-47 over the channel on D-Day. He told me over 50 years ago that the brits called 'em that because on every inventory sheet it always had DACoTA on the description line so almost from day one they were known to them as Dakotas or my favorite, "Gooney Birds"

Subject brilliant but ruined by tyhe use of seemingly digital cameras which distort propeller motion.I think so called photographers should get real- what they reflect is un natural though I understand any clever photographer ca synchronize his camera to present a picture as the eye would perceive.Come on snappers get a grip

Photographer, this is video. This comment only reflects your lack of understanding and knowledge surrounding a field clearly above your mind. Once cannot simply adjust his video cameras frame rate to the exact rate which would show clear full prop discs or blur. This is only achieved by DSLR, or top end video cameras, of which I don't own.

Great video outstanding an impressive sight to behold the Airborne Armada of Dakota aircraft. Many of us were assembled saluting, berets on couple regimental standards raised people clapped cheered cameras flashed shutters clicked on as they flew over Beachy Head as the Daks approached there was eerie silence as a mark of respect and cheering as the Daks came overhead and headed left across the channel. Tremendous spectacular flypast in commemoration. Must have been equally impressive onboard above seeing the Thousands who lined the flight route. To be on this historic jump must have been so exciting proud and at the same time poignant for all those who gave so much for out today 75 Years ago. Thank you Daks Over Normandy incredible logistics work and the crews and Paras and the two WW2 Veterans 94 and 95 who jumped we salute you. We will remember them.

I was very pleased to see and hear all those planes taxi and take off. The photography was excellent! Even more impressive to me was the sound of all those radial engines! I'm guessing you were using some kind of wind protection on your microphone because the sound was wonderful! For once, there were no wind noises across the very sensitive microphone element. To watch and hear this, I fired up my 24 inch monitor and 2.1 sound system. Excellent quality sound and visuals to my eyes and ears! Keep up the good work.
