I am completely convinced that Liara is a canon romance in the series. She is the one who saved Sheps body, the only one who saved some of Sheps possessions, and the only one that is immediately loyal in the me2. As soon as you see her for the first time in me2, you two can share a kiss. Liara is the one for Shepard.

***** I agree with you there. Jack is a pretty complex character as far as her hard trust no one exterior. But you find out a lot about her, interesting back story, her strange way of showing affections towards others, and she's actually very kind. Not to mention Tali and how she has developed since MA1. From being a quiet soldier that doesn't have much of an opinion on most things, to one of the best companions Shepherd had and staying by his side through all 3 games. I have trouble picking from Tali, Liara, or Jack they were all written so well as possible romances.

I was pretty set on staying with Tali but when I ended up beating the shadow broker and you go through those moments with Liara, I just got sucked back into being with her. You cant go through all those moments with her and then so no afterwards. To be honest I see Liara as the character that always cared about Shepard the most.
