The only planet I enjoyed mining on was Voeld. Almost all of the mining sites were easily accessible, and I found myself having a pleasant hour driving around depleting each of them, drinking tea and admiring the snowy scenery. Every other planet you have to mess around trying to drive up giant ridges and mountains to find the mining 'sweet spots', and it QUICKLY becomes a giant pain in the arse.

Small tip, when searching for vanadium, drive over remnant ruins inside the mining zones. I have never found any outside the ruins. That isn't to say it can't be found outside the ruins, however, it should make the farm more efficient. Happy hunting!

I honestly didn't feel the mining was that big of a problem, since the game gives you so many ways to do it. I kind of mixed it up- I rarely went out of my way to mine, but if I happened to cross through a zone, I'd take a few seconds to get whatever was there and be on my way. The minerals perk helped me put a lot, since I spent a lot of time going back and forth on the ship - I tend to planet hop a lot, anyway. And in the latter half of the game, I found myself with a ton of money and extra weapons to deconstruct.

You can also get minerals by investigating anomalies that show up in system maps via the scanner. So far they haven't been super rewarding to pursue but they're relatively quick.

Specs certain skill sets (profiles) to specifically take on different threats: one set for shield breaking, one set for armour breaking, one set for tanking, one set for DPS - you just gotta match the skills to the profile your building. Also, profiles ARE important: sentinel is amazing for tanking, straight up tech/engineer is amazing for elemental combos, biotic is good for crowd control etc

I think you should be able to planet scan and scan with your nomad. the anomaly thing is ok but you can get so much more from planet scans. plus it adds incentive to visit all the planets instead of just the 100% completion.

Depleted does not mean you can't launch any more mining drones; on at least three occasions I have depleted a mining zone and found another location within that zone that I could mine.
@anselhelzengaming24677 жыл бұрын
The mining doesn't ruin the pacing for me. I tend to plan out what i'm gonna do. I'll focusing on knocking out side quest for a time, then I'll do main story stuff, then, spend a bunch of time craft, then I'll go out to specifically mine. That's just me, but mining isn't so bad with the nomad.
@desiretoinquire23757 жыл бұрын
I do like the mining. If I going to be crafting powerful stuff that will give me an advantage, I don't want the game just giving it to me. So I like the feeling of going out and working at gathering the materials I need for it. Also it makes sense that being in a new galaxy where we don't have established resourses, we would have to go and gather these things ourselves. And no offense, I often get the impression that people who don't like things like this in games tend to be the more mindless type of people who just want to play a game that doesn't make you think and/or work for your accomplishments.
@Ebola4197 жыл бұрын
I didnt care for the mining in the OT ME games and I dont care for it now. But if I had to choose between the two I would choose OT mining as I feel like it was faster to obtain the minerals you wanted compared to mining in me:a

I don't own the game BUT from the videos I've watched I think mining could be made more interesting by having the player find abandoned tech and equipment. After discovering all the key components or technologies required (via recipe) you could then assemble or construct a massive mineral/ore retrieval refinery or factory that beams the refined ores directly to your outpost or the Nexus. It puzzles me that in the writing/planning of this game that the producers didn't leverage all the collected technology to automate mundane tasks from previous game chapters. It doesn't have to be mandatory BUT it should be an option that's immediately available AFTER unlocking the factory/refinery feature on a planet. The rate of collection by a factory/refinery would be x100 times more than standard means using drones and on foot. Orbital satellites would completely negate any need for personal scanning for minerals.
@ikaemos7 жыл бұрын
The mining is a bit more engaging than planet-scanning (and definitely more fun than looting nodes in DAI), but I was annoyed that, if you get two mineral signals within close proximity of one another, you don't get both of them once you deploy a mining station. Like, the stations have a radius marker around them, but they don't actually mine _everything_ around them; you only get the mineral you detected via the mining scanner. It's a bit counter-intuitive, you're actually mining specific _spots_ but the stations show a wide circle.
@DarkWish987 жыл бұрын
Tbh i don't recommend going straight to mining on a new planet to get it out of your way, from my experience on Voeld you get a LOT and a mean a shit ton of quests just by roaming around, and i already barely have a clue what X quest was about, depends on you if you can remember the details but i dont its too much. Also as long as you are in the blue with the mineral, ,and even not in the blue, you still get a decent chunk of them so you shouldnt care too much about that i think, and you do have infinite drones. Also about Harval i think it contains different minerals? like processed stuff logically? you might need more of it for crafting or something i dont know because i got like 3000 silicon from there and thats INSANE, i dont have many recipes unlocked to be certain

So far I'm unconvinced of the necessity of crafting, to be honest. Some of that is probably my difficulty level ("Casual" like the filthy one I am :P ) and some is probably just not knowing enough about how it works. But I still gather all the materials I can because hoarding!

Kyle Maxwell why wouldn't you want better weapons or amour? Customizing your loadout is what makes Mass effect great
@Encephalon7 жыл бұрын
biggest things in crafrting I find is the Augmentation's that you can grant weapons, such as different ammo (Grenade Launchers) or different fireing (Mass Effect, Plasma or Energy) and even giving Big weapons like Black Widow or something Heat Sinks so you don't have to hunt ammo boxes in the middle of a fight, that is what Crafting has done for me.
@awkward.68897 жыл бұрын
Kyle Maxwell I'm the exact opposite. Sometimes I refuse to use pickup weapons, simply because I take too much pride in my crafted gear. Those augmentations and gun mods really help, and allow your to customize your gear around your playstyle. Pickups don't allow that freedom.

I really don't like the nomad mining. I also think it's really annoying that you need to max the wave or get it in the blue as you were saying. Back in ME2 if you just touched the edge of a mineral node and mined it in the planet scanning game, you got the whole node. I liked that better.

It really depends on how you appraoch your gaming session. I'm not an OCD gamer and generally play for 40-50 min. max per day. I like to spend 5 to 10 minutes on mining then I move on. I don't do mining to clear the map but just to get the right amount of mineral I need for the weapons I want to craft. Lots of people I spoke with about this seems to have an issue with the compulsive desire to clear the entire map. They are IMO looking at it from a wrong perspective. My two cents.
@jeanremynoble17987 жыл бұрын
Opportunity miner here. If there's a node on my way to somewhere I'll open the scanner, if it happens to start spiking I'll spend a few seconds to find the sweet spot, and then move on. I don't craft compulsively, I found my preferred weapon/armor set early, and just work up the tiers when I level up, so I am only researching and crafting 2 weapons and the armor components.

No, I find the mining on-planet tedious (both vehicular and on foot). It feels like busy work ... or playing No Man's Sky. I'd much rather it was just part of the bases or FOBs or whatever, and entirely automatic. I mean, it's 600 years in the future, we can't get UAVs to just buzz around the planet mining for us? It seriously needs a human pathfinder to drive around looking at some wiggly lines?
