They have now completely changed this whole area. After they completed all of the archaeological digs and studies to gain a complete layout of the death camp and mass graves, they have now covered this entire area including the ash mountain with white limestone. I'm glad that no one will ever be able to disturb the final resting place of many of the thousands of murder victims of Sobibor!

While that will ensure the dignity of remains, there may be better ways of doing archeology in the future. I think that future archeologists may need to determine fine points.

It makes me SICK to my stomach to show physical evidence of a bone fragment of a Jewish child, Man or Woman who was murdered innocently. It makes me so angry 😡 that if I ever come across a Holocaust denier that would have the audacity to tell me “there was nobody killed at Sobibor or Treblinka, Auschwitz/ Birkenau” I’m most likely going to assault and break their trachea so they can’t breathe

Frost/heat cycles to bring many things up from underground. The same can be seen on farm fields that were once battlefields like the Somme. The gracious method is upon discovery of human remains in such a hallowed place is to gently reinter the bone under soil with as little handling as possible.

Important video. Was there myself, just a few days ago. Disappointingly, they have roped off the key segments of the site, and I was surprised the museum and the memorial wall have been demolished, waiting for the new memorials. Confirmed, however, that there are bone fragments absolutely everywhere......and as a trained anatomist, the trabeculae were easy to spot.The archeology has been covered over again with sand, and I couldn't properly identify the extraordinary finding of the real route of the "Schlauch".....

I wish Deniers would go over the figures and consider how stupid their objections are to what really happened. The Holocaust was actually pretty easy.... You only need a few hundred accomplaces with a lack of feeling for others. The rest of it was just knowing how to make people feel weak and vulnerable, then misleading them until it was too late. There was something demonic in how the National Socialists pulled it off. The National Socialists made a profit from this whole atrocity. A profit....

At Sobibor, outdoor cremations were supposedly begun in either the late summer - early autumn (Yitzhac Arad,in " Belzec, Sobibor & Treblinka' p. 171) or winter (Jules Schelvis,'Sobibor'. p. 110) of 1942. Arad writes that the bodies were buried in an unspecified number of mass graves “50 to 60 meters long, 10 to 15 meters wide, and 5 to 7 meters deep” (p. 33). Arad writes that “the whole area was swampy” (p. 30). A look at a 1933 map of the Sobibor area reveal several small lakes or ponds close to the future camp, as well as a number of marshy areas, including a smaller spot inside the future camp perimeter. Franz Suchomel,(Unterscharführer in the SS) who oversaw the liquidation of Sobibor, testified in 1962 that the barracks in Sobibor were constructed on top of “meter high piles” to avoid the danger of flooding. In an interview in the early 1970s he further stated that "NO KILLINGS WERE DONE IN SOBIBOR AFTER THE SNOW THAWED BECAUSE IT WAS ALL UNDER WATER” adding that “It was very damp at the best of times, but then it became a lake” (Sereny, 'Into That Darkness' p. 115). Arad says inmates attempted to escape through a tunnel (p. 311). The tunnel, which was planned by a professional miner, “could not go deeper” than 155 centimeters below the earth’s surface, because “there was a danger it might strike water.”Yet he would have us believe burial and burning pits 5 to7 metres deep.? Franz Stangl (Camp Commandant) describes the Gas Chamber as a “BRICK BUILDING” (Sereny, Into That Darkness, p. 109). Erich Fuchs,(SS-Scharführer) says it was “A CONCRETE STRUCTURE”. Erich Bauer,(SS-Oberscharführer.) The gas chambers.were not made by brick or concrete "BUT OF WOOD" (Jules Schelvis, p. 101). Arad (Belzec, Sobibor, Treblinka, p. 31) writes that the first building contained 3 chambers, each 4 x 4 meters, with a capacity of 200 victims per chamber, ( 200 people in a room 4x4 metres??????)

4x4 meters is approximately 150 square ft. A human "footprint" isless than 1 square foot. So it seems quite possible that 200 people might fit in a 4x4 square space, all standing and packed in.

Sobibor had two sets of gas chambers. One was made of wood with packed sand to provide a gas and sound seal. This was replaced with a second larger set of gas chambers made of masonry. The National Socialists determined that wooden walls absorbed biological materials, making clean up difficult. The newer chambers were easier to clean, thus preserving the illusion by the condemned that they were being deloused, not de-souled.
@jamallabarge2665
@jamallabarge2665 Жыл бұрын
I've read capacity figures at Sobibor of 160 to 170 victims per 4x4 meter gas chamber. That's about one person for square foot. Children were tossed on top. The victims were compacted into the gas chambers by Ukrainian "helpers". We may wish to evaluate people from their era. The average American in 1930 stood 5' 8". Poles were probably of comparable height. On a ghetto diet many lost a great deal of weight. The average American of 2023 would be terribly cramped at one person per square foot.

I've been to both Sobibor and Treblinka and searched both areas for over an hour each. I could not find any of these often talked about bone fragments, but this person apparently picks them straight off the ground. My guess is that nothing came out of the analysis of these fragments shown here. And what would be the point of that anyway, if there had already been archaeological investigations showing human mass graves? The fragments found along the path could possibly be from Jews spreading the cremated remains of relatives there.

+Sauron Merciful I hate to jump in but this has been pecking at my brain that no one in this comments has mentioned the obvious problem. Seems few people care to study Geology to understand how soil and sediment builds up over time, and would of buried ash and bone fragments from 70+ years ago under at least a few inches of rotting decayed matter, and sometimes even blow top soil, counting on how much in an average location builds year to year. Whether it's a shell casing, bullet casing, random ammunition dropped on the ground, medals, buttons, dead soldiers who were never officially buried and were lost. Most of this physical evidence from the war abandoned across Europe has already been buried by "Nature" itself. When you see those treasure hunters coming across relics from the war they're always under the ground, often a few inches to a few feet counting where. Most of this isn't exactly soil but decaying matter. For example a open grass field, new sediment builds up slower than if it was in the woods. Then you also have to take account for Erosion. In a desert with no plant life, no rain, remains will last often hundreds of years, unless buried by the sand. In a forest even a modest one remains can almost completely vanish within a year or two, under leafs, which decay and create new soil just end up burying it quickly. Even a blade of grass does this, in conjunction with fecal matter from even something as tiny as an ant. It all makes a different. To put it bluntly, these remains shouldn't be so easily found on the surface. This implies and supports claims that most remains people see on the surface at these locations are more recent. There have been entire articles, and documentaries revolving around Loved ones Returning the Ashes of their Grandparents and Parents to many camps, to be with those they lost so many years ago. It's actually a major problem for some camps as the Museums do not officially support these policies but people go ahead and let it happen anyways. Tragically for some museums it just helps spread the shock narrative as gullible tourist are none the wise, and likely why nothing is ever done about it.
