I'm from Fall River which is about 45-60 min from Boston and I went to school in a different city with people from all over Mass. The whole state has different accents everywhere. When we moved to Florida people thought we were from New York 🤷

Most people can only do a sort of Afrikaans accent as South African. Even that varies quite substantially around the country and from cultural backgrounds. I haven't heard anyone get the the English SA accent at all. That too is nuances from area to area and from culture to culture. The of course most importantly most South Africans mother tongue is not English or Afrikaans. We have 9 more official languages. Most people in SA can speak English and/or Afrikaans and they will have have strong accents depending on their first language. SA is a beautiful multi cultural, multi lingual all inclusive rainbow nation. We have our problems but when those are sorted it could be one of the most interesting and wonderful countries to live in. Not to mention the extraordinary natural beauty that abounds. Sorry going on a bit but just saying it's far more than just a generic interpretation of our accent.

There several different different SA accents, let's be honest, even among white South Africans. The English SA accent is pretty flat, but imo the Afrikaans accents is kinda harsh and percussive (and very fun to imitate).

Accent and language are not the same thing. An American accent, A Canadian accent, an English accent, an Austrailian accent, can all be differentiated in English, which is a language.
