Thank you for the lecture. It's very useful. I just have one question though. Why is final product thats alkene with hydroxyl group showing positive? It seems that all elements are satisfying octect full? Thank you.

because during mass spectometry, where this rearrangement happens, a positive ion is produced during the ionisation of the compound. which is drawn to the detector which has a negative charge. this is not a typical in normal organic reactions. this is the fragmentation of a molecule after ionisation. which why the positive charge is seen, it loses an electron in this process.
