I would never use the self-scanning because of honest mistakes. If it's a 100% mistake, they wouldn't believe you. Also, what if you scan it & someone next to you also scans it at the same time and your scanner doesn't beep. You would think your scanner beeped.

How dumb do you have to be? Mass State Troopers make a lot of money. It’s a nice living without a whole lot of self-investment. The starting base salary is over $80,000 per year, and that doesn’t include allowances, overtime and other perks, such as reduced rent and home purchasing programs. That’s also the starting salary, so after about a year, their salary only goes up from there. The average salary in Massachusetts, which is one of the wealthier states, is $75k per year, so even just the starting base salary of a trooper is already well above average. Mass State Troopers can expect to earn well over $150,000 per year after just a couple of years, and that’s with putting in minimal effort. To throw that all away to get one over on Target seems ridiculous. It makes you wonder what other corners this guy was cutting, if indeed he is guilty of what he’s being accused of. I realize that it’s only an accusation at this point and that he should be considered innocent until proven otherwise, but if this guy was indeed stealing, he was incredibly reckless, and any tickets and/or arrests should be carefully reviewed.
