Amazing attention to detail! I really like the effect of the depth on the shot starting at around 12:00. The ceiling-high backdrop really works to make it look huge.
@tomschmidt31652 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Yes, that backdrop is quite effective..

Watched it twice just to catch more details on the layout. May have to come back to it again. Thanks for the interlude from reality.

Thanks Jack. Nothing like a good healthy interlude. We putter around and improve the layout weekly.

Thank you, very nice. Have been taking still photos of my layout to get me back. Your video helps to. So as they say thanks for the inspiration and now it's time for the perspiration as I get back to work on mine. Saved the video and subscribed.

Thank you Eric. You have to take a break now and then from most hobbies to recharge your interest. For me, visiting or seeing the work of others gets me fired up again. Get your perspiration level back up and start railroading! LOL

What a feat of engineering, seriously! Mightily impressed with this whole set up! Thanks for putting this up.
Love the Rivarossi U-Boats. i have 9 of them. They are great locoomotives.
@tomschmidt31652 жыл бұрын
I agree there. I just recently acquired my one and only one. The layout owner has 2 of them.

@@tomschmidt3165 I know they only did these U-boats in like 5 different road names and two numbers.. But I really loved watching these units in the 60'and 70's. I purchased my first three at a train show in KC for like $116.00 per unit with sound. Got them home and they ran super. So I got busy and purchased 4 more. CBQ, NP and BN. Found 3 Atlantic Coast Lines units for $109.00 each with DCC/Sound and then painted then in the NP colors and renumbered them. I can't make up my mind on the era iI'm running, but when I run these locoomotives everyone else usually stop what they are doing to come and see all the noise and chugging is albout. 3 units running together really make a statement. So I have quite a fleet of U-boats. Some of the best locomotives I have purchased. Now you can hardly find them and the price is close to $300.00. But then that's the going price for all DCC/Sound units of any quality. Thanks for sharing.

Tom, do you have any info mapping out the layout? Also, do you have any more information about Robert? Wow, this is impressive! How does he find the time to build such an impressive model railroad?
@tomschmidt31652 жыл бұрын
Hello Michael, Unfortunately there is no drawn track plan. The layout was built by a commercial layout builder up to a certain point and then finished by Bob and a group of his friends. The layout is in the basement of his home and we have added more in an adjacent garage.
@derekalexander40302 жыл бұрын
Well, Robert has a spectacular layout. Do you plan to video more of the layout and does Robert have a KZbin channel or website with more on the railroad?
@tomschmidt31652 жыл бұрын
Hello Derek, Thanks for the comments. No Robert (Bob) doesn't have a You Tube channel. We're just very good friends. My intention is to do some more video of some of the L&N name trains that he has built.

Is the layout open for view to the public? If so, where is it located?
@tomschmidt31652 жыл бұрын
Hello David. It is located in the metro Nashville area and is only open during NMRA Cumberland Division events. Thanks for your interest.

360p? why even video at a crazy low resolution?
@tomschmidt31652 жыл бұрын
Because that's what the old iPod had! Also the iCar was made for that size device back then. No other device would fit that car. That was explained in the description above. And, it's better than no video at all!
@TrainNut852 жыл бұрын
If this layout is suppose to be prototypical, its a bit off. I live In Cowan and have railfanned often on the Chattanooga sub along with doing some extensive research, but after watching the first few minutes of this video with what towns the train was going through, it didn't look like anything that was even close.
@tomschmidt31652 жыл бұрын
There was no attempt to replicate the towns other than using the names along the route. Even though, there are several custom made structures. Mostly the train stations.

Too bad the video quality sucks

Too bad people like you that like to criticize others are allowed on here. Read my explanation below as to why the quality is what it isa.

I guess low quality video is better than no video at all . . . but I just do not comprehend how someone manages to record a massive model train layout, with such lovingly detail in 2022, and can only manage a video resolution of 360p!
