Here we present a 16 FEET WIDE maple tree that has never been serviced. This took us about 7 hours worth of work. Most maple trees we work on often time creates a security issue where it blocks your line of sight from the front porch. It even blocks security cameras or your ring doorbell as you can't see if someone is creeping up to your front door. Trimming these big trees as a bonsai not only makes your yard more beautiful while increasing the property value of your home, but it makes your home safer.
Watch thru this video as we explain briefly how we do the trimming to get to the final results.

I planted a Japanese maple in my parent’s back garden after my daughter was born. I looked after it for 25 years, it was breathtakingly beautiful. When they sold that house I cried because I had to leave my tree behind. I hope the new owners love it as much as I do.

@@redmadness265 I did take cuttings and seeds but nothing grew. I grafted my cuttings on to other trees in my new home but nothing took. Alas I don’t think it was meant to be. My tree is so beautiful I think the new owners would need to be crazy not to love it too. I have let go, it’s 3 years ago now & it’s their tree now, or should I say they are its custodian at this time.

I had to refresh my memory…I have 3 of these maples just like yours and 2 lime green ones with the same structure. In the fall they have unbelievable vibrant colors that I really wish lasted longer. They were already here when I purchased my home so I am not sure of the varieties. The previous owners left us a lot of transformation pictures of the property which I thought was pretty neat. The ones in the front yard were put in the early 70’s and they added through the back in the 80’s along with other types of maples, pines rhododendrons, Azaleas, Hydrangeas, roses fruit, nut trees…been here going on 8 years and still trying to figure out the plants and care needs. Extremely beautiful but also high maintenance…never ending. My first 2 years I just weeded, treated and fertilized so I could see what was coming up each season. I had a arborist come out and he was awe struck by the beauty. I had him come 3 different times and he taught me quite a bit. Very knowledgeable.

I pruned a Japanese maple that was burned a bit from a house burning. We rebuilt the house all winter. In the spring the tree had new growth and was still healthy. I took a sawsall and oscillating tool to it and tried to follow some rules I learned from bonsai. The owner was thrilled with how it looked. I took off the dead stuff, the crossing branches and the ones facing in, and gave it a nice shape. Even my boss was impressed.

This is another reason why we love trees. Every artist can appreciate the beauty depending on the style. While the style in this video may speak to certain individuals, there is still beauty to be found in the umbrella style. 100% agree with the secret place as Robert and Nolan have both climbed and hidden in many trees in the past.

There were three shrubs in a hedge at front door. The yew still there, nearest to porch but now a tall screen and much shallower. The center winterberry is gone, 'though still trying with suckers. The messy corner red cedar was evergreen on top, but years of sides being vertically pruned left a gray-brown solid tangle of shedding bark. Just kept removing what I could with loppers, thinking to take it all down. But stopped when it became a (now five ft.) giant bonsai with windblown 'cypress' umbrella of healthy branches over two curving trunks, each about 4 in. diameter. So glad I did not just saw it off at ground level🤗

Very nice pruning and great video. You guys really need an orchard ladder though; safer and easier to work with.

Thank you! We have an orchard ladder, but it was really tough to set up inside the base of the tree because of the uneven ground and the structure of the tree. We did use it briefly in this video, but didn't open it up very much so it looked like a regular ladder.
