As someone who just printed a large Lego Christmas Wreath, I can attest to "print big is fun... print big lego is more fun". Also, I love how "let's do it" the video is. I feel like sometimes at trade shows they go "oh yes, this is completely functional... but we can't demo it. No, we removed the electronics... and glued/bolted it to the stand... please don't touch" and while I can understand the bulldozer "don't touch" because of friction and whatnot, the fact that Matt was just "yea, let me sit on the go kart right now" was just perfect.

Awesome model ... old LEGO Technic has a specific aesthetic that works at any scale (apparently). I used to work in the marketing department of the "Big L." brand mentioned in the video. Typically, the HQ in DK was pretty ignorant of what was going on in the various regions, while totally over-estimating the relevance of "genius" ideas they came up with in Denmark (generally a rather typical Denmark-problem). While this has definitely improved with regional brand ambassadors etc., it's still far from optimal and there is a constant risk of losing touch with the fans and consumers. However, the regions are typically smarter about such things and will occasionally sponsor local talent if they know about you.

@@springplus300 ... yeah, except for those times when they have to fire hundreds of employees, when they lose loyal retailers in core markets, when their competitors are more innovative than they are, when they don't have an adequate response for knock-offs (example: when a Chinese knock-off gets a RedDot (TM) design award in 2017 for a component developed by Lego in 2005) or when they are totally missing the boat (like when they are unable to benefit from the current boom in STEM, classic trains and marble tracks b/c the have neglected those areas for years). Have a look at their profit-per-employee in DK and operations in Western countries - no improvement there for over a decade... also, take on the consumer perspective: How many grams of molded ABS do I get for a dollar spent? That trend is negative and an indicator for a non-sustainable way of generating a profit.

Oh wow, the nostalgia. I had a forklift Lego kit in the exact same style (all yellow bricks, same steering wheels etc.), I'd say I played with it ~1998 but it was my uncle's, so definitely from the same period the one in the video was designed. And over 40km/h in such a vehicle, that's awesome. You know this dude trusts his 3D prints when he voluntarily drives on it.

One of my first 3d prints was a giant Lego brick for my brother-in-law. He wanted it as accurate as possible, so I spent ages trying to print one in ABS on a terrible 3d printer (Formbot T-rex 2) without an enclosure.

"Lego" on STEROIDS. Man, that just hits something deep down inside. It's just so oddly satisfying to see what would happen if someone went all "Honey I Blew Up The Kid" on a "Lego" set.

Polymaker is what I use for my Filament, and I love it. They are middle of the road on prices, but the main thing is their spools are clear, so its easy to see how much you have left. I used to use Hatchbox but you can't tell what you have left on the spool, not easily anyways. On topic, LEGO doesn't hold a patent to the brick itself, meaning you CAN freely print and make your own bricks, parts ect.

If they marketed it as a hobby kit, wouldn't them having pre-set print files pull people back to "L"? They could have difficulty levels and that would push people to really look at the way things work. I remember my brother had one of the "L" robot kits that followed coloured lines on a path and I always thought that was so cool! As the stores near me close I see this as a way to keep people engaged. To me this would only revive the brand to a audience that has always loved it, but might not be able to afford the premium sets. The cost of "L" these days has ment the kids in my family haven't had the same play with them that my brothers and I had.

I am new to 3D making, like weeks, but I want to make my own 3D printed bricks to build my own Lego Millenium Falcon (they cost a fortune for a broke middle aged student in a pandemic, so using filament as I can buy it is a good hack). A larger scaled, not this big, version is now my ultimate goal. It will take me a long time, my place is not big enough for the 1:1 version, but it won't stop me.

@@3DPrintingNerd Just saying... HELD DER STEINE was a big Lego youtuber and seller of Lego and in cooperation for many years with Lego and they sued him. Lego is pretty strict the last couple of month, cause they are angry that their brandname gets deleted cause it developed into a worldwide generic term for clamping blocks. Same story as Jeep lost the right using their brandname exclusively. Lego is fighting very hard not to lose the naming right and this is the reason why they start suing many people on social media, instagram and youtube.
