Brilliant catch Alex. It is amazing to see what they can fit inside when carrying cargo. I remember seeing the one in Malta a few years ago and it was very impressive. Thank you for sharing this with us. Liked 😀 👍

First time I saw one was at Mirabel Aiurport while cycling around. Saw it from a distance and it was isolated. Though it looked like a Bae146 on stereoids :-) (4 engines, high wings). Had no size comparison since it was isolated on field. In the heydays of Bombardier (RIP), portions of the CRJ200s were made in Belfast and brought to Dorval for assembly by ship. The ship couldn't bring them fast enought, so BBD hired Volga Dnepr (Volga = major river in Russia from the Caspian see to north west of Moscow, Dneper = major river in Ukraine) to bring extra fuselage/cockpits to Dorval. So it was a regular sight near the hangar with the Air Canada sign on it (which was used by BBD at the time to hatch as many CRJs as it could). It isn't until you see it right next to another plane that its size become really visible. And once, I saw the crew walking onto the nose to wash the cockpit windshield. That too gave a huge idea of its size. On 9-11 I biked to Dorval and got to see all the landed planes. None of them were at the terminal, they were all parks next to each other on the field next to de-icing area. There were 2 AN 124s at YUL ! (the next day, police closed off the road to the fire all so couldn't go see it anymore). After 9-11, the CRJ-200 fell out of favour, Bombardier had near bankruptcy #1, and the focus was on the CRJ 700 which was done at Dorval. I didn't see it myself, but apparently the Antonovs did some visits to Mirabel to deliver parts from Belfast from time to time, but was not a regular thing.

We know these planes are huge, but it's rare that you get close enough to see just how big they are. I walked through the cargo bay of a C-5 Galaxy at the Abbotsford Airshow and it didn't seem possible that something so big could fly.

Great video, beautiful plane! It gives new meaning to the word “heavy”. I’m wondering what they were picking up or dropping off in Winnipeg. Maybe they needed to fill up the gas tanks?

yea, it's big. Some facts: 1. Antonov Design Bureau in the ukraine can't build a An-124 planes. 2. Chief designer of An-124 and An-225 was against that the plane was produced again. He wanted to create a new Ruslan. 3. New Ruslan will be produced. Now at the stage of researching the aerodynamics of the model.
