Since my dad passed last year I was keeping everything to myself. Randomly came to this song in my apple music mix and damn, that was a trigger. Couldn't stop crying like a little kid. And I am 43 years old kid. When music touches your heart andsoul, you know it's for real

I’m watching Prison Break, and the scene where the prisoners reflect on their thoughts and expectations before their escape has become so special to me. The way the song lights up that moment-it’s pure magic! It humanizes everything, making it impossible not to connect with the characters. It’s funny how this show was such a hit during my teenage years, and now, almost at 40, I’m finally watching it. Thank you, Massive Attack! Your music is truly something special.

Really, they weren't. This sort of downtempo has tons of contemporaries - most of them have just gone ignored and/or weren't featured in major motion pictures or television. That's not to diminish Massive Attack's skill or success, just to suggest that there's a lot more to explore within the genre!

I remember when this hit the shelves. Me & my mates liked the cover & so bought a copy at HMV, Southend on Sea, UK. We went straight to East beach to have a listen & blaze a jay. On the way we had the black track "Angel", which already had us curious. We parked, sparked up, & then this BOMBSHELL happened. We were totally stunned. Never in a million years could we predict this incredible haunting sound. We looked at each other in amazement. Not a word was spoken. We just sat there.. in the burning sun beaming through the windscreen of the car with all doors open, polarized by this odd & inimitable song. Then people started jogging over.. almost begging us to tell them... "What is that track?" They would text each other the name of the album (phones were primitive back then!!) & then they were racing down to the stores to grab a copy. Good music used to be a drug back in the 90's because you didn't have You Tube. If you missed that title.. you may never hear it again. We knew then that the generic shit we were listening before would sound totally inferior by comparison.

Asdayasman I don't mean that to start an argument, I just hate how cannabis is thrown in the "drugs" category. To me a drug is Meth, crack, Krokodil etc. Some sort of mish mash of awful chemicals. Whereas a cannabis plant grows just like a potato or carrot etc.

I really love seeing someone discover great music for the first time. This song, while not super well known, has had staying power over the years, albeit having more of a sleeper/cult fan base. As you can see it has over 600k likes, just edging out the subscriber rate for the band itself. I just so happened to be putting a variety playlist together and threw this one in. Who knows, maybe someone out there will make more happy discoveries this way. Happy music exploring! kzbin.info/aero/PLNFOplKnrHHDTNHnuWwJd0uI-CruPS_kX

My younger brother committed suicide last weekend by overdosing on something. He was found with headphones on, presumably listening to something. This is his youtube account. He made a playlist containing 6 songs that was edited the day he passed. This is one of the 6 songs. With the method he used, he was dead after about 30 minutes, probably unconscious around 12 minutes. I like to think that it was peaceful for him with his music on. God's honest truth - way back when airlines used to have those 'radio stations' to listen to on their planes, this song came on just as the aircraft (that I and my family were on) was coming in to land at our home city and at night after we'd had a fantastic holiday. It ended just as the plane was coming to a stop. It was like the end of a movie or something. For those who don't know, this song is composed by the lead singer of Cocteau Twins Elizabeth Fraser, at the time she wrote the lyrics for this song, she was dating Jeff Buckley that unfortunately happened to die of drowning in that same period, i guess no more explanation is needed, this song represents grief in all forms, the melody, the lyrics and the overall energy of the song.

I stumbled upon this on “A discovery of witches”. Really good quote & songs in the show. Grief carves a place in the heart and sits there forever but when focused it can be a powerful motivator. Sadness becomes resolve and pain becomes action! “Fear is an illness. If you catch it and you leave it untreated, it can consume you. You face it. Facing your fear is not easy. ❤ “Nobody smart plays fair.” “It’s hard to regret something you didn’t choose.”

i was in the Goth scene/club scene before *House* aired. I was a DJ too, and you're exactly right. *House* put Massive Attack on the map among Vanillas. They'd come to our club, thinking they'd hear more Massive Attack, and ilk. Instead they got *Dead can Dance*, *Sisters of Mercy*, *Skinny Puppies*, *Grendel*, and *Xuberx*, then they'd ding, dong, ditch really quick, realising we were a bunch of freaks, lol

For me there are really just two songs from them that do anything: this one and Unfinished Sympathy. Other stuff they did is not exactly bad, but I have to actively take the time to listen to them, whereas these two can just take me with them regardless of what else may occupy me at the moment.
