Please practice Leave No Trace principles while visiting the Allegheny National Forest.
There was an unfortunate discovery during routine trail maintenance on the afternoon of Monday, May 5th, 2014. At some point over the winter of 2013-2014, someone entered the proposed Minister Valley Wilderness Area in the Allegheny National Forest on the North Country National Scenic Trail with a chainsaw, cut down several trees, and created a massive bonfire. Naturally, there were also the requisite half-burned pieces of garbage left behind in the ash pile.
This is not exactly what one would call Leave No Trace practices:

Please tell everyone you know not to bring chainsaws into the proposed Minister Valley Wilderness, or other proposed wilderness areas in the Allegheny National Forest, to keep campfires very small and modest in size, and to cleanup behind yourselves -- endeavor at all times to Leave No Trace that you were ever there.
Thank you!
