@@BrisbaneChannel I'd say Melbourne and Brisbane aren't too dissimilar and Tasmania certainly was a bit of a culture shock. Melbourne would have to be my favourite and I think the weather has a lot to do with that as it doesn't get to the same unbearable temperatures.

As an urban planning student in Brisbane, the planning situation in Logan is frankly embarrassing. I had to do a review of public tranpsort to Yarrabilba and that place is going to be creating clogged highways for decades to come. 70000 person masterplan community and the Quuendland government thought 30 busses a week (0 on Sundays) should cover it. I found lendlease reports admitting they weren't meeting the government transport guidlines. Its so painful to know that current projects still being built RIGHT NOW are failing so badly.

LOL, the Salisbury to Beaudesert Line has been 'planned', 'talked about', 'studied' etc for about 60 years now without a single centimetre of track ever laid. So yeah, why not throw another $20 Million at it to 'study' the idea AGAIN and STILL not lay a single centimetre of new track. Those 60 000 odd cars queued up on Beaudesert Road, Johnson Road, Ipswich Road, Compton Road, Calam Road, Mains Road, the Gateway Motorway and South East Freeway twice a day, for hours, can just keep queuing ... every day ... like they have the past 30 years ...

OldFellaDave, currently in land resumption phase for the new corridor, according to the latest info I'd received last year. The reason for the plan on plan is because plans have had to change a few times, due to corridor ownership/lease change, etc, and evolving housing development plans.

Rail corridors we need after cross river rail. Doomben line upgrade and extension to Hamilton. A branch line to the new Caboolture west development (spurring off the North coast line somewhere betweeen Burpengary and Morayfield). Springfield line extension to Ripley. Sunshine Coast line to Maroochydore. NWTC link between Alderley and Strathpine, Salisbury to Beaudesert rail link, the metro expansion, G:Link to Coolangatta, Gold Coast-Logan fast rail, Murrarie to Capalaba Rail Link. Upgrade of Cleveland line including duplication and metro to take over the P456 bus in the western suburbs as well as the great circle bus route which operates as a radial loop line between major suburban areas. This is my SEQ transport plan. In addition a DMU shuttle service between Toowoomba and Brisbane (Like a V/line type service). It would also replace the rosewood line shuttle and after Ipswich be express into Brisbane stopping only at Darra.

I really hope that the Ripely and Beaudesert rail expansions are done before 2032 (preferably sooner), as they are badly needed. As well as a heavy rail connection to Chermside (and beyond) and Hamilton. Well, the very first topics, I have personal experience with, and I know for a fact that in the long ago days of wolston park; there absolutely was abuse! Not that every psych nurse (which basically I was, but different title by the time I came along) perpetrated such things, but it was very common...I saw milder incidences of it, in my time at the Basil stafford centre & ALS', years after the then CJC Fitzgerald enquiry. For some years after I left; I pondered making a documentary on it all, as I still knew some veterans of the service, but I've now pretty well gone off the idea. Video will be out Sunday, haven't decided on the time yet. Going to re-edit it slightly and shoot a short extra test segment today. @@BrisbaneChannel

Oh 😞 that photo of the koalas was actually the push i needed to delete reddit. I kept seeing sad or infuriating animal photos i didn't want to see & that one sent me over the edge. I guess i can cry over it again. I don't know how much positive effect things like that can have when powers beyond our control keep destroying their habitats & forcing them to cross increasingly busy roads etc. That photo wont stop development. It just make me feel extremely sad & powerless. (I know it's meant to make drivers slow down & pay attention, but they're the snallest part of the problem.)

It's easy to feel low looking at a lot of those things. I think though, that there's still a lot of people doing good things, even if their impact is less than the ones doing things that are harmful. The more we can feed the narrative with the things that improve the world we live in, the better it can be. A little candle might not be able to light an entire stadium, but I'd rather focus on the candle than the rest of the darkness. And I'll do everything to protect my own flame. Who knows, I may be able to use it to ignite the candles of one or two people around me. Terrible analogy (words and I are not best friends), but you'd get what I'm trying to say.

@BrisbaneChannel animals cruelty & harm will turn me nihilistic in a second. I can find the positives in most other situations, but the futility of making the whole world care about animals makes me want to send a meteor & get us over with 😂 I know that's dramatic lol, it is what it is. But I am a helper, I work & volunteer in thr community, I'm a kind person, I give back, I care, I share & all that jazz. I burnt myself out being zero waste, & I have no problems drinking through soggy paper straws. I do believe that if we all do our bit to improve the world it adds up, I just know that when it comes to animals not enough people will ever care. Doesn't mean we shouldn't try, it just means I shouldn't be on reddit hehehehe. I love what you're doing on here Adam, very exciting! Don't listen to Debbie Downer!

As someone living in Ipswich, we really do need more funding for road and transport infrastructure. I moved to Ipswich in 2013 and it feels like there's only been a handful of road upgrades in the past decade. Most of the city comes to a crawl during school pickip times. The roads around the Cunningham in Ripley/Flinders View are a shocker. It can take upwards of 15 minutes to get through a set of traffic lights and across the bridge over the highway. I believe what Ipswich council and the mayor are doing with the campaign is great. Give Ipswich more love.

Unemployment rates especially is much higher in indigenous communities so I think the government should focus on that. Renaming places is just a band aid to the real problem here.
