So are your Brooches & Pins actually pinned into the boxes, so they won’t shuffle around when moved or could be hung up? I used to keep all of mine in a small, plastic, three drawer unit, which I’ve out grown, so am looking for a different way to store them. I’m a retired teacher and would wear a different one every day, 180 +. One year I had a a group of students who were very interested in them, so during the Friday Spelling Test, when I would ask a random question at the end, I sometimes would ask, List one of the pins I wore this past week. A Bonus point if correct, nothing for getting it wrong, but a half a point for trying. It’s amazing the dialogue you get for just wearing an interesting pin. I preferred the ones that moved, or had something that dangled. I have a gold and silver clip board that actually worked, so I cut some Post-it Note paper and attached it, and a wrote tiny-tiny, Do your BEST today! But eventually I had to add at the bottom, PLEASE DON’T TOUCH, because the students wanted to always touch it to see if it was real paper. Thank you for sharing your TREASURES. :-)

@@mmalsbur9579 Hi and thank you for commenting. Yes I do pin them in their display boxes. I don’t like when they are on top of each other it can cause damage and missing stones. I often buy ones that need repair also. I make jewelry and have supplies to fix many of them. I don’t hang the boxes. I do wear them on many things like jackets, sweaters, scarves, and sometime vintage purses. I really enjoy them so much and do get a lot of comments. My collection has continued to grow. I was going to make another video but we moved recently and I have been super busy. I will at some point make a new video. What a wonderful idea sharing them with your students. My love of brooches came from my grandmother and my mother. I enjoyed your comment and thank you for watching.

These are fabulous, Connie! I collect antique and vintage brooches, too. I have many on pillows, and on an old dressmakers’ model. I LOVE cameos and have another collection of Georgian and Victorian mourning jewelry. OMG! Compacts, too! Yep, I collect those, too. Guilloche enamel are my absolute favourite. I saw a lovely Guilloche in your collection, possibly LaMode. I saw you on Mimi”s channel and couldn’t subscribe fast enough. ❤ Beautiful videos, Connie. With most things I do buy it’s almost always because I am drawn to it for whatever reason. There are some pieces I just fall in love with instantly. Thinking about it the most expensive thing I have bought was years ago, a 1900’s ring and the second was a beautiful cameo brooch. But honestly my most price possession is my grandmother’s wedding ring I inherited. She was married for 75 years and her ruby red bowl I have shown in a recent video. I want to thank you for that question because it really made me think. There’s so many things I have collected that I love so much like my brooch collection which is still growing and my vintage purses. And it has to do a lot with the fact they give me so much joy because they remind me of my mom and grandmother who are no longer here. The things that I am drawn to always make me think, where has this piece been, who owned it and because it’s made it far enough it made it into my hands I will take care of it because someone loved it like I do. Yes some of them are really hard to find the makers mark. I do have a few books also to help. Sometimes you can google lens search them but doesn’t always work. I know that Macys has put out a lot of brooches over years and most are not marked. Which makes it hard. ❤️🎄
