Thank You for hosting such a fun IG pre shop party! Just got back from my very first Candle Day! (Wasn't intending to go in store, but online was sold out by the time I got off work so I just couldn't resist having to wait a whole other year for my first time. Same theory..grab and go and exchange later. Same..very controlled, orderly, clean, and small groups in at a time. So happy to finally have a couple of those reusable BBW bags from the big day as souvenirs! Always wondered what the survey coupons were, now I know. i had done surveys and ratings recently, but never got a coupon..now I know it was from years ago! Lol

Hi. New to the candle community. Awesome channel. I was wondering what you do with all of your empty candle jars. I looked on pinterest for some repurpose inspiration, but there wasn't much. Using the jars as planters for succulents was a pretty good idea. I also saw a lot of q-tip and cotton balls jars. But I dont need 10 of those. Hahaha. Interested to know what everyone does with their empty jars! Thanks

Hey, Kent! Lou, here. My 1st candle day! Yay! Must admit tho...even tho so new at this addiction and obsession? Even as a few month, BBW candle rookie...I was pretty bummed!!! I had to work EARLY Friday am, so online was sold out by noon. Today, I went to two stores...each barely had ANYTHING. Like not even SPC or like white tea & sage. Nothing at all holiday but Tis the season. No fall. Like nothing!!! One store started bringing out the newer stuff...I did get and love that sweet rosemary vanilla. The peach tea, too. That was about my greatest of my haul. B/W both stores, I got 12...and I’m gonna do what you and others sometimes do. Exchanging at least 3-4 back for something new that wows me. What an underwhelming candle day, tho!!!!☹️I feel so bummed for you die hards that have been doing this day for YEARS. But, hey. I feel bad 4 me, too!🤣😐Like what was the hype for!? I had more fun in August w the fall release and October w the holiday release. Then the gold collection, two weeks ago. This seemed so senseless. Hahaha. Okay. Rant over. I’ll stop being a spoiled biah.

I totally understand your frustration about them not accepting the survey coupon. The problem is that associates at B& BW are not properly trained. I frequent 2 B & BW stores and between both of them their is only one associate at each store that knows how to process an online return.( WITH online receipt) I had to familiarize myself with the policy which IS - A merchandise card will be issued if the customer checked out using paypal BUT if you go through the normal process of typing in your credit card at check out you are to get cash back. It is sooooo very frustrating being told by associates that they can only issue me a merchandise credit .Every time I explain to them this is not true & won’t let it go they admit they don’t know how to do it to give me cash back.( I would take a refund to my card but they don’t do that)If the lone associate is on break ,I have to wait around the store until she comes back ! Last week I was sent to a different store to do my return because no one was working who could do it! I called customer service a few weeks ago who was going to have the district manager address and make sure they are properly trained but I have returned since then and I get the same people not knowing what to do. Of course some are new faces but the majority are associates that have been working there for quite sometime. .uggggg!

I feel you! It's so very frustrating. It's not like we want to be difficult to the sales associates, but BBW should indeed do a better job at training the associates when they onboard them. I've actually had a similar issue with an online return/exchange before. She claimed I couldn't get it a refund and that it was only valid for exchanges.

I had the same problem in recent weeks with exchanges. They kept trying to do a return and I would explain how it was only an exchange so they didn’t need to know the price I paid per candle because I wasn’t needing the money back. She had to get the manager and I had to explain it was only an exchange. Yeesh.

I love candle day. I was at my store at opening and I was out in 15 minutes. The manager of the store told me I could come in the day before and pick out my candles and they held them for me. I'm a frequent shopper. 😊🤣👍

Hey Wayne! Happy Candle Weekend! YIKES! I checked out in the nick of time...a message flashed that the online candles were sold out...one second after I updated and submitted again😳. I held my breath🥺😰and somehow it processed my order with only 16 of the 18 in my cart . So minus the stress, I think I'm good. 🥳 I escaped with most of what I wanted...Chocolate Grahams (BBW does chocolate so well...), Apple Garland, Berry Spritzer (can't wait to compare...😆), Sweet Cranberry Pie - excited for this too, Buttered Rum Eggnog - so glad they brought this one back, Gingerbread Marshmallow - trying for the first time, Snow Mountain Lodge - love this and I still have candles from the boxed tester collection from years ago, , Evergreen and Sparkling Icicles both in the see-through packaging. I wanted all four in that packaging but those were the two that fell off. I had Under the Christmas Tree, but it sold out. I may look for those over the weekend if the stores are not crowded.

I was so nervous about candle day especially with Covid, but I had such a good experience and got most of what I wanted. First in line and got to chat with my associates too! The days of $5.50 candles with so many $10 off $30 coupons are over, but it is So nice to just have this tradition this year amidst all the craziness of the world. ❤️ SO annoying about the survey coupons not working. I haven’t had one around since 2015 😭

I feel you! I was nervous too. But all the stores were actually very orderly and organized. They only let so many people in the store so even if you have to wait in a line outside, it's still very low-key and distanced inside, which I appreciated.

I wasn’t going to go to the sale either. But- I woke up without an alarm at 5. So, off I went. I bought 12 candles. Some for me, some for gifts. I am happy with the Warm Cranberry Pie. Nice tartness to it. Blueberry Pie makes me nauseous. So I finally get the experience the warm bakery notes with the rest of the candle community!

Loved your live lady night! My store was only allowed to have 8 in at a time. I waited in line for an hour. I only got 12 candles in total, two orders with two $10 off $40 coupons. The line was gone when I left, but when I had to go to the grocery store to get milk later on around like 5, the line was crazy long! I got two of the Cookies and Cream Milkshake, a Peppermint Sugar Cookie, a Peach on Earth, a Spiced Gingerbread, a Tis the Season, two Sweet Cranberry Pie, three Merry Madeleine Cookie, and a Twisted Peppermint. I don't see how the stores are going to have anything by Monday. But I don't want to miss out on what's coming out, but I don't want to wait on line again either. Ugh! I know I want a French Baguette, a Sweet Rosemary Vanilla, a Winter White Woods, and a Vanilla and Peach Tea!

Hi! Happy Candle Days! Your IG Live was so fun, yesterday. It was like a candle pep rally! 🤣 Glad you had a good experience as far as safety in the store! Mr. Hess & I originally were just going to pop into 2 lower volume locations, but the first one at 5 was a dud, so we popped into the location that opened at 6, because my Treasure Chest store opened at 7 & was on the way, anyway. I am really liking the new Berry Spritzer, too! It reminds me of Champagne Toast’s sophisticated cousin! 🤩 I still hope to find Frosted Moscow Mule, Vanilla & Peach Tea, & Sweet Rosemary Vanilla, so I am going to check with my closest stores to use my last coupon. It's kinda underwhelming. I found a lone one at another store after this and it's essentially 90% Cinnamon Sugared Donut with this slightly sharper herbal note that gets wrapped up in the cinnamon. It's currently drowning and barely throwing :( I was banking on loving that one, so I ended up returning a number of my exchange candles.

I ordered online at 5:40 ish, and then went to my local store at 8:45 am. It’s a smaller BBW (not white barn) and they never have anything good, but they had plenty of Cookies & Cream Milkshake. Like at least 20, and they’d been open since 5! I was surprised so I grabbed that one. You & Bren are the BEST fragrance describes- love you both!!

It was awesome! Got there at 3:15am, was 6th in line. The online time was 6am but she opened about 15 minutes after 5am. They handed out candle inventory sheets so u could see what was actually in the store. Only let in a few at a time. Everyone had on a mask! Lots of staff to help with finding the ones you wanted. Had 8 registers open. Walked straight up to the register line and was called to the counter! In and out, maybe 20 minutes! Purchased 22! Best candle day ever!🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄

I arrived at my local store today (Friday 12/5) at 5:30 am. There were less than 50 3-wick candles in the whole store. Thanks to you, I knew to go ahead and buy whatever they had and wait to exchange for something I really want. Thanks. Hey, I need a fact check: the store told me that the single wick jar candles burn as long as a three wick. That does not seem possible, but they swore by it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hi!! Loved the story and haul! I got 24 candles and my store had the Moscow Mule and the Cookies and Cream. I got a couple. Cookies and Cream smells like cocoa and cream but less chocolatey. We shall see! I was #3 in line and it was sort of crowded but cleared out fast!

So I have a question 🤔... if a candle (BBW/Homeworx) comes where if you turn it upside down the entire candle slides right of its vessel- is that a bad thing? In the big pic will that affect the burn of the candle? Etc.

It usually just means that the candle was cold at some point and the wax shrunk slightly. Doesn’t affect performance.

It will indeed affect the performance. It is not safe to burn a candle that slides out of a jar and that is considered defective. How bad it affects the performance depends on whether or not the wick clips are still attached to the wicks themselves or not. If the wick clips are stuck to the bottom of the jar, separate from the wicks, then the wicks will likely start to drift or fall in completely once you start to burn it and you get a liquified wax pool. If the wick clips are still attached to the block of wax, it might do okay for a bit longer because the wick clips are still anchoring the wicks in place. However, once you get to the bottom of the candle and the entire candle is liquified, the wick clips themselves might start drifting to the sides and get too close to the edge of the glass, causing an exploding candle. Either way, it's dangerous and is legitimate reason for a refund/exchange. The safest way to deal with a candle like this is to chop it up for wax melts! The reason they are detaching is a combination of the change in temperature from the wax shrinking from the cold weather + perhaps not using strong high-quality wick adhesive that doesn't tear apart so easily from the glass. HomeWorx is most notorious for this and I rarely see it with other candle brands.

I actually found a lone one of that candle later today! I totally agree that it smells like cinnamon. I find it to actually be very reminiscent of their Cinnamon Sugared Donut/Cinnamon Spiced Vanilla fragrance. Not at all what I expected!

i am so excited i got my winter white woods and my smoked vanilla today we are transitioning into SAS which i use to really enjoy but lately i have been enjoying the more original candles rather than the stock of about 5,000 champagne toast candles and watermelon lemonade for 50% off for the enire last half of december and all of january bye bye to the original candles until next year...hopefully summer is good

Nice haul! I did an online order since Chicago is out of control with covid and there is seriously like just one bBW in the city that is always mobbed on candle day. 😬 I didn’t wake up early or anything, grabbed sea salt and linen and another cranberry pie. Lavender sea was sold out after the site crashed on me like ten times and it disappeared from my cart. Oh well, I’m sure we’ll see lavender coconut blends again soon! Enjoy your haulage! I love your shirt it is so cute! I went to candle day for the first time in a very long time. I’m from Canada and I found the cookie and milkshake there was lots at my store. I went to two stores and there weren’t a lot of fall candles. There was a lot of Christmas candles. Both stores didn’t have the pepper nut sugar cookie and the ginger one that people love this season. There was a decent spring selection that was out. There was maybe a 10 or 20 mins wait in line. Only 20 people were allowed in both stores.

I still have a bunch of survey coupons and fortunately never have an issue using them. If the SA’s don’t know what to do the manager always does. I did however try getting a three day grace on a coupon and the SA did put it through when I told her but then one of the managers came out to the floor afterwards and told me there is now no three day grace anymore. We can also not use US coupons in Canada anymore. We also don’t see email coupons or get mailers. Boy do I miss the days where you could take one coupon and use it over and over again. I don’t like that BBW is getting so stingy. Our candle pricing for candle day was also $11.95, which is not a huge deal in comparison to a B2G2. Our prices also increased to $25.95 out of the blue from $25.50. That means 2 for almost $13 each before coupons so only a dollar or saving for candle day. I didn’t go this year because of Covid and because of the poor selection and pricing. It just wasn’t worth the risk. I’m sorry you had a rough time but I’m glad you got some candles! Well, it was a hassle & a half, but I was able to get my order through - finally! My wax budget isn't huge, & I burn some "Winter" scents all year (like Balsam/pine/evergreen), so I try to wait til Candle Day to pick up back-ups on those & for some of the Holiday candles on my list. So it turned out to be a successful day for me, since I wasn't going for newness or Spring. Would have liked the option of getting Winter White Woods or Pomegranate Lemonade on line, but it's not the end of the world.😏 Hated to hear about the survey coupon hassle! My store had a couple SAs that were fairly psycho about taking exchanges or returns in the past, so I ended up calling Store Relations. They were super apologetic, & told me to just tell the associates or manager that I had SR's number to call if I had any issues - so they could speak to them!😬 Haven't had to do that, thank God: I'd feel weird - but apparently, the mention of Store Relations was enough.😒🤷🏻 Thanks for sharing your haul, Kent!🤗💜

I'm glad you were part of the IG live too! Totally fun. I actually saw a number of Thousand Wishes across 3 different stores. One store still had at least 12 at opening. Another one had about 5 around 1pm, and the last store had 2 hiding somewhere at around 2:30pm.

I was online just before the sale went live at around 2:50AM-ish PST; I knew I had to move quickly because of past experiences with Target and other sites with special events crashing the website. I was able to get in two separate orders of 18 + 9 candles each. I doubt I will keep it all but will swap for full price items next week or whenever. Now the site is saying "sold out". Maybe going into the store is not so bad but I did not want to risk it since this was my very first candle day and I honestly did not want to be wandering around bewildered and confused during a pandemic. Hope I like the candles and everyone got what they wanted! Thank you for these great fun and informative videos!!!

This kind of makes me want to use the last of my survey coupons before they do stop taking them altogether. I was fortunate enough to have placed an order at 5:35 am that already says it shipped. Which hopefully will actually arrive in one piece because my store had nothing I really wanted. No holiday scents available. Most scents available were Spring/Summer scents I already have more than enough of or tropical scents in White Barn packaging. They were already sold out of Cookies n Cream Milkshake and Moscow Mule as well. But I didn't want to waste a 20% off on just the one candle I needed for a gift so I grabbed a few to exchange. Something I usually try to never do. But I think this year definitely, is one in which to make exceptions.

I've been thinking the same regarding the survey coupons. Knowing how stingy they've been with coupons, it's only a matter of time until they stop accepting survey coupons altogether. The lady on the phone kinda sounded annoyed or like they were doing a courtesy in even accepting survey coupons still. And yea, stores are selling out really quickly this year. I think some stores may not even make it until Sunday. Will be interesting to see what candles they replenish the stores with from now until Christmas.

My favourite of the 4 I bought for me so far is Merry Madeline Cookie, it smells exactly like you're baking Madeline cookies I also got Fresh cut lilac, Passion (tuberose and yalang-yalang), and Spiced apple toddy, I still have the original version, and this the first year I bought a new one because it comes close to the original

I came back from my local store. Thankfully no line! I did buy 18! My favorite is definitely Pineapple mango, Black Cherry Merlot, Winter Candy Apple, Cranberry Pear Bellini, Peach Bellini, Snowy Peach Berry, the Relax Chamomile and Midnight Blue Citrus. I did get about 5 I didn't like that I would be returning or exchanging.

I was like 75th in line when I got there at 5:30 am. The associates were walking the line taking your candle wish list and pulling them for you. Took 3 hrs to get in the store (only 11 in store at a time) but was checked out and on my way home in 4 mins once I made it in. My only complaint was they weren’t limiting how many you could buy. There were people there with wagons full of candles.

Ordering online was frustrating. Already sold out of Under the Christmas Tree. Store opened at 6am and there were about 20 people waiting when I arrived at 5.15am. Lots more upon leaving. Only nine people allowed in at a time. Nice to be able to browse without being jostled. The selection didn't excite me this year. No sign of any Winter White Woods today. Enjoy your videos . Yea, the first store didn't enforce the limit at all. There was one lady toting around like 50 candles in this huge wagon. Even if the lines seemed long outside the store, they actually ended up moving rather quickly. I think I ended up waiting around 15 minutes each in two lines after I filmed this video. Agreed, I think the distancing and store limits make the process go way smoother. Like I actually would prefer this format even on non-COVID years!

Hey, Kent! So I decided to pop by a second store tonight near me. I waited in line for about 20 minutes to find out that they only have around 7 candles left. All white barn. No shipment coming tomorrow. They don’t know yet what they are going to do. They apparently are having a conference call later with corporate to discuss whether or not to put out the product they have in the back that’s supposed to come out on Monday. Or just wait until they get a shipment for Sunday and have a really sad store with 7 white barn scents to offer to customers all day tomorrow.

I went to bed at midnight and woke up at 3:30..I have moved states so past candle days I knew what the crowds would be, but here (in Las vegas) i had no clue what lines would be...this time I got there at 4 and was first in and first out!! Glad I went...got what i wanted for the most part!! I ended up with 12 candles...had to show some self control for my budgets sake 😂

Please give Berry Spritzer a fair chance. I've only been burning it for a solid hour and the notes have changed, so, much since first sniff. Would love to hear a more in depth review. Mine smells much lighter than I hoped for. When you hover directly over the candle it smells like kerosene, but the fragrance it throws at a distance still smells like what I described in the video!

OMG I didn't know Berry Spritzer had diff scent notes this year! I smelled the 2018 WB version & gagged (vomit-pear action) so I did not grab that this morning. I did manage to get a Cookies & Cream Milkshake. (just to have- I felt I didn't need backups with all the chocolate candles I already have). My store only had a few fall ones- none I needed/wanted. That is SO weird about SPC!!! It has come out SO many times! I still have my OG ones plus a few others so yeah, no. I got that BWC too. Other stuff I grabbed: Peppermint Sugar Cookie, Tropical Island Bliss, Cranberry Pear Bellini, & back ups of Chocolate Grahams & Merry Madeleine Cookie. I did have 6 Online Exclusives in my cart last night- woke up to place the order shortly before start time & the site crashed. Tried again & then the page became frozen. UGH rolled over to TRY to go back to sleep- tried again about an hour & a half later & got it to go through- however one had sold out- the Vanilla Bean Marshmallow. No biggie since I already have one from a previous sale 2-3 weeks ago but I wanted one for backup. (love the moon design) I'll prob go back on Sunday to a diff store just to see if they have put out any new stuff. Not that exciting this year due to COVID but I was pleased with my store this morning- I didn't even get there until 8:30 & the line out front wasn't too bad at all. Inside wasn't overly packed & they had like 7 registers going. Used one of my $10 off $40's & will use the other one Sunday since they expire on the 13th. Maybe I WILL check out that Berry Spritzer!!! TFS! :D

Yea, Berry Spritzer 2020 is totally not the old Berry Spritzer! It smells just like Juniper Berry & Pine.The only issue is that it is very light when burning. Almost undetectable in an open area, mediocre in a small room. Sorry to hear about the site crashes! Seems like that was a huge issue this year. The design is really cute on that though, I have to admit. I'm hearing stores are selling through candles like crazy that they might not make it till Sunday and have already been instructed to put everything out. There goes my "exchange on Monday" plan! The gal told me they may run out before tomorrow & then I looked at the app & there was a banner that said "some stores sold out." WOW I did sniff SRV with my mask on & wasn't impressed! lol Still managed to get 18 candles (Moscow Mule, Merry Mimosa, Linen Sheets, Deep Blue Sea, & THRILLED to get 2 more Thanks & Giving! LOVE that one!)
