As a new player, I quickly found out that ALL pub lobbies were ruined and unplayable by modders. IMO, this was a welcome addition. I've seen a drastic decrease in these insufferable little punks, and can actually go in pubs and play around without getting nuked in 20 seconds. It hasn't stopped them all, saw two just last night. But it's cut their numbers drastically. You can see they big mad when the ddos'ed RS...oh, those tantrums and tears were epic when they woke up at 2pm and found that they couldn't use their little menus-paid for with mommy's credit card - to ruin the game for everyone.

Yeah man, I've seen so many people online complaining about how useless Battleye is but none of them have tried actually playing this game on PC consistently before it was added. Glad to see you mentioned you saw a big drop, it's insane how the game is actually playable now lmao. Before this update, I'm not even joking when I say it felt like every lobby had 90% of the players with some type of free/paid menu. The past 5 years or so has been hell, the past 2 years especially got been even worse. My friends and I pvp a lot too, and when you pvp you quickly notice there's about 10x more sneaky cheaters in the game than you thought because most players toggle godmode mid fight or try to hiding their cheats lol. We got so numb to the cheaters at times that it was normal for us to lobby hop hours straight just hoping to get at least 20 minutes of pvp with a real player before the session gets ruined :( Even though Batteye isn't perfect and they are finding ways to bypass it, holy shit is it infinitely better than the non-existant protection we had before lmfao

On console, I haven't seen a modder since the PS3 days. Tbh, I wonder why people even play on PC these days. I swear I'm not trying to be snotty or "console for life" or anything dumb. I just legitimately don't see any good reasons to be a PC gamer in 2024. Modern consoles are super powerful. Games are usually better optimized for consoles. There are so many great console exclusives, and even when yall get the big games, there's often a huge delay. You have to fiddle with your settings often, we don't. We are protected by Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft. There is no free gaming protection or services on PC. I don't need a VPN. I could go on for days. PC gaming seems like a massive headache.

Also sidenote rockstar needs to stop adding super expensive things that makes you grind cayo or casino or cluckin cause everything they add just doesn't cut it unless you have no life and have to grind the game like a 9 to 5 job (this is me cause I have no life outside my house) but for the casual players cause for alot of people out there they just don't have the time for it my friends don't have the time to sit down and grind the game like I can so they just op out to not even play the game and it's missions there are so many things they could have done for example import chop shop and salvage yard like why do we have so many car shops that are separate and for salvage yard why do we steal from basically a while army for every little hiest and chop shop we modify customers Cara and deliver and import we steal a car worth millions and we only get 100k like why. All cheaters and modders should be banned for life from the game. People always find a way to ruin a good thing. I only play in "Invite Only" lobbies because its a waste of tie to play otherwise. You can accomplish so much more if you stay in your own lobby.

couldn't agree more, i quit playing in i think around 2017 when at least in my opinion the hacking was at the peak and it became really tiresome trying to play in any public servers. I've just recently reinstalled this game and when i got back i was shocked that the cheating was actually even worse then before lol. I never had the need for mods and never downloaded them for this game, i prefer playing all my games legit and it is more fun that way.

Hot take: I believe that some action was needed to adress the cheating plauge; but battle eye was the wrong move. Its as invasive and disruptive as Denuvo. R* needed to make a more meaningful change to the core of the game to prevent the issues from being acessed in the first place.

You're correct. Like I mentioned, dedicated servers would mitigate most of the modder/hacker problems in the game. Not sure why Rockstar chose such an invasive anti-cheat that (at its core) doesn't work very well. This whole implementation although needed seems too little too late for PC, but we might see this sort of anti-cheat in GTA6 online.

I have over 1000hrs on GTA online PC but I haven't played it in over a year due to modders. And I flat out refuses to buy GTA 6 cause I can predict the outcome of the online game play. And only took a week and half for cheaters to get around it. Probably less cheaters in the game so far, but do not stop BE to raise false flag left and right and ruin LEGIT players fully. Two of my friends got caught while playing on invite only sessions. Both lost 7 years of GTA, and 4 years of Red Dead Online as R* wiped their whole accounts. But hey... With their implementation of the P2P infrastructure for the lobbies, cheaters can duplicate your data, then do something shitty that should get them banned, but instead YOU get banned because their client with the Menus send information to R* that YOU are the one who made the bannable offenses like making the whole lobby explode. And you know how I know that ? I was banned a couple of years ago by that exact method. I took a break, left my character seated in front of the TV in my house. Got for a coffee and some bio break. When I did come back the whole lobby was exploding from a cheater. Except it was not his name exposed as 'killing everyone'. It was MY character's name. Seeing that I Alt-F4ed out. Except it was too late. 6 years wiped clean by R* without a second though. No appeal, even if I had been a customer of their services, bought a couple of shark cards myself (my bad), and never cheated in their game. And very recently, 2 of my friends got caught in the Battleye mess. I had played for years with them on GTA before. And I know they don't cheat as they are people I know in real life too. They were playing in 'invite only' sessions for a couple of weeks. But after one of the missions, they got sent into a lobby (thanks R* for not fixing that by the way) and by the time they left the lobby to a new private session, they got a nice Ban Hammer in the face. No information about why they got banned. So much for R* trying to ban cheaters and banning legit players. Now, there is also something. If BE start to scan your entire computer outside of R* directories, that some privacy violation and something that hit GDPR level of punishement for R*. They have absolutely no right to ban you for having something on your computer not in active use into their game. There are tons of players who have cheats for single player games when those games don't provide any Creation Mode or any dev console in game. And those players are usually not the kind of players who go online to ruin the day of others. So as long as what they have installed is not running concurrently to GTA online, R* has absolutely no right to ban those players. Except it seem that some companies don't like players to have any freedom on THEIR OWN COMPUTER.

@@BrownDaddy007 Answered in another post. There has been a lot of players who have been caught because Battleye is known for raising false flags. And you need some competent security team to review the flags not have an automated system that ban everything that is flagged. R* have proved that even THEY are their level of "not caring for customers" are worried that they made the situation worse for legit players as they reversed most of their last ban wave. For R* to do that, it mean they really f***ep up badly and have probably caught more legit players than cheaters in that ban wave and who know how much legit players they have scammed out of their legit playing since the introduction of BE (and before when they were not aknowledging that some of the menu/mod users could get a legit player banned even without the player doing anything wrong). And by the way, do you know how bad the GTAO security was with the P2P system ? Some cheaters could copy your data, and have their actions reported as YOUR actions. Happened to me a couple years ago. I had the 'bad' idea to need a bio break and a coffee. So I sat my character in front of the TV in my flat. Then took around 10 minutes away from the computer. When I got back, the whole lobby was exploding, I could hear the booms going on. When I reached the computer, I noticed that everyone in the lobby was exploding with my character name as the 'killer'. Yep... for sure... my character who was sitting in his house watching TV was supposedly 'killing everyone on sight' in the lobby. I did Alt-F4 and tried to come back. Was banned for 30 days and had 6 years of progress in the game wiped by R*. No appeal, no reason given, nada. Thanks R* for being so 'reactive' to cheat players out of their legit progression. So sorry, but R* have absolutely none of my confidence to do anything right when it come to supposedly ban cheaters. And if they take actions that ban more legit players than cheaters and we see cheaters back in the game in less than a week, then they have completely missed their target. A bit like using some 40kT bomb to kill a tank and still managing to miss the target while obliterating the town that tank threatened... And for those 2 friends who got banned, they are IRL friends since very long and I know they are not cheating. We spent a lot of time playing before my ban, we helped each other with our various businesses. Now, if you want more proof that R* have dropped the ball about cheaters and are unable to solve the issue (mostly because of the P2P structures they picked at the time to keep server cost low). You can just remember that before 2021 (or is it 2022) you could barely do any businesses jobs outside of a public lobby. R* have given players the ability to do those in invite/private lobbies now. No need to cheat to have those private ones and in a way no need to ban anyone who make sure they are ALWAYS in private lobbies and not being sent after every mission into some public one where they can be the target of a menu/mod user. And for RDO, they still have not provided any option to have invite / private lobbies. So they better not start banning players who get in those to avoid cheaters. Or they can literally close the game as it will be the last nail in RDO online. And the worst, is that R* are not trying to make the game more 'user friendly', they have seen a drastic diminution in their money printing cow, they are selling less Shark Card than before. That's the reason why they are now trying to stop cheaters, because they are not making money like they did before.... And it's also probably a trial to see if BE can be a solution for GTA6. Thing is, be it EAC or BE, they are not a good solution as they are the most cheap and useless Anti-Cheat out there.

The Battleye "workaround" was a trap. R* played some 3D chess, Battleye reported that online play wad been used whilst it wasn't launched - boom, the modders who were busy clucking about how easy it was to defeat BE, got banned. 2Take1 menu is no longer functional, Stand users got caught out this way too, as did Kiddions, and Yim.

R* like a couple of others companies have not wanted to solve the issue at the start. They were not even acknowledging that the Peer to Peer was letting some cheating menu to 'duplicate' your data, and some cheater could cause mayhem that was reported as 'YOU' causing the mayhem. They could also follow you around if you tried to hop from lobby to lobby. Same in Red Dead Online. So the issue is first with R* letting the cheater cancer reach a metastasis state and they are now trying to fight some terminal level of full cancer. And the most pathetic reason they are trying to fight it now, it's because they have noticed that GTA 5 shark cards are not 'printing money' as fast as it was in the past because some of the cheaters had found way to deliver huge amount of money in a way that R* could not detect. So now that they are 'losing money' to cheaters, they start to act... That's some top level greed.

Battleye has some serious issue. The whole Anti-cheat call 'home' and if the BE servers are overloaded, you get ejected with some "Battleye: timeout error". Fun fact, since Rockstar implemented that shit on GTA 5, lot of other games have issues with more BE timeout, like Conan Exiles.

It is assumed that cheaters are the ones doing the DDOS, when a large number of them may have been people that were angry at having this invasive crap forced on them by Rockstar. I have never cheated on the game, yet I am quite pissed at this crap. I had just bought the PC version recently, having played the xbox 360, xbox one, and xbox series X versions(I've bought it three times). I suddenly get a message about this battleye crap while installing an update and I haven't installed battleye or played the PC version since. Two or three times I started to, but I just couldn't bring myself to because I know how idiotic it is to give kernel mode access to some anticheat company or anyone else. I wasn't happy about the sudden connection problems(that I didn't know were DDOS related until today), but I completely understand.

In last 5days i was able to log in online just 3times - 1.log in was great no cheaters at all 2.log in great again no moders 3.log in yesterday, I were waiting 4hour till I was able to get into online then I finnaly get in, 4 seconds later I see one guy killed 20ppl in les than 5 seconds .. so I tryed to report him and switch session but I wasnt fast enough before I could even open online menu I got permaban from battleeye 😮 .. fuck this I never ever cheat or try to even look for mods, I grind so hard to get all stuff and I get this reward 1500+ hours in online gone in les than 15 sec just by log in bad session

Sounds like this thing should have been named "Blackeye". I had a time just connecting tonight, and then was in a session that had almost zero vehicles rezzed during the Criminal Damage event. So clearly modded. Then got attacked by some wannabe modder that must have been in god mode. Then some guy in an imani tech SUV came after me and i got him into a position that he could not escape from and hammered him with Toreador missles, I'm pretty sure enough to take out the truck (no doors left but still functioning). So thinking that was a modder too.

Hey, Oddman, I've used the cluck and bell raid glitch to make some extra paper, as well as the casino wheel glitch you showed to win the car....I've read that glitches aren't considered cheats or hacks by RS. You know if that's true? Oh, the night before they implemented battleye, some rando invited me to the humane labs heist. I was refilling my iced tea and didn't notice the payout cuts, etc. When the mission passed, I got paid 15.5M...I was like WTF? Someone obviously modded the heist and while I appreciated the cash, I sure hope that I don't get banned for accepting a rando invite.

Just about every updated weapon like orbital canon were coded by modders before Rock* added it to next gen, flying bikes/cars, crazy outfits and costumes etc. BE reduced performance by 1/2 yet again as massive amounts of code added in updates already did that since GTA V was 1st released on PC and it only took modders about 7 days to get a menu up and running when they did finally release it LAST after consoles. (I bought a Xbox 360 just to get to play and that took 3 more years waiting for PC) Now only paid menus are ruining the game to the point everyone gets booted from the lobby for some host problem over and over again. BE did nothing to HELP this game and I for one will never give Rock* another dime of my money!

First off, this is still just a game. I hate modders as much as anyone, but I'm totally against hardware bans or any permanent ban. That's too far and far too much control given to people who clearly can't use it correctly. As long as I have a say, that Battleye crap will never be on my computer. Nobody should have access to that level of my PC. If it means I never play GTA again, I'm fine with that. Rockstar has proven time after time they can't even spell security, so why would I ever trust them?

A couple years ago, I got my whole account wiped and 30 day banned. Lost 6 years of progress. My error ? Taking a break to go to toilets and pour myself a coffee. When I got back, the whole lobby was exploding with my character name being the 'supposed one' killing everyone. Except that my character was seated in front of the TV in my house as I wanted to keep in the game while taking my break. When I noticed what was happening, I did Alt-F4 the game. But as I found out the next day, it was too late. Was banned the next day, that's how I learned about one of the P2P vulnerability that was letting cheaters duplicate your data, and commit bannable offense that were reported as your doing. And I have found next how R* had the same P2P weakness and security failure in Red Dead Online. When having cheaters using the Single player Balloon to go around the RDO map dropping molotov on your head, or spawning ghost panthers by the dozen on your head and following you from lobby to lobby when you tried to escape them by lobby hoping.

I really need help. I bought a PC and im new to PC gaming. I bought gta5 off steam. When i downloaded it i was able to play offline with no issues but as soon as i try to go online it says battleye needs updated and i cannot get it to update or install. Someone please help me!

I am a bit mad about them adding battle eye but it’s becomes I play on steam deck I just want them to go on the Protas thing and enable it. That’s all they have to do and then Linux players can play. But I don’t agree with people that are DDOS them

I supord the ddos attacks my game runs at 15 fps on the lowest settings now it used to be able to 64 fps on higher settings

i'am a fair player i did not got a ban i got a susspension for 30days and a whip for no reason....... i play from 2018 on pc for over 2000h and i got to level 325 and 5m in the bank...... i dont chat or mod i just play fair and the susspension i got i cant do anything about it rockstar said ther is nothing you can do to that..... i can tell what rockstar did to me i'am sure i'am not buying gta 6 or any other rockstar game ever

If someone knows what to do im glad of any help. I was playing in a pub lobby and at somepoint i got a ton of achivments and like 300k. So ther was a hacker or moder that give everyone in the lobby this. After about 1h i got banned and now i dont know what to do

i hope they find a way to bypass battleye, you get glitches and bugs every 2 minutes and lose a couple of millions in a closed friend session world just because the session closes or some other bugs.. cheating is the only thing that makes this bullshit trash game actually really fun. teleport into peoples cars and help them finish their mission, or max their car or make it faster its so fun

A little bit late and battle eye is fucking over non cheaters. It is also funny to do this in a game based on criminal activity. Rockstar sure loved punishing players to keep their relic of a game alive.
